I recently had the opportunity to participate in a one-day motorcycle trail course organized by Honda Canada and hosted by Trail Tours. The experience was nothing short of exhilarating and educational.
The day began with a warm welcome from the Trail Tours instructors, who were not only highly skilled but also incredibly passionate about off-road riding. They provided us with safety gear and ensured that our motorcycles were in excellent condition before we hit the trails.
The course itself was a perfect blend of theory and practical riding exercises. We started with a comprehensive briefing on motorcycle safety, off-road riding techniques, and trail etiquette. This was particularly valuable for someone like me who was relatively new to off-road riding.
One of the most thrilling aspects of the day was the experience of jumping over obstacles like logs. The instructors guided us through the proper techniques, emphasizing safety and control. We began with smaller obstacles and gradually worked our way up to more substantial logs. This progression allowed us to build our confidence and refine our skills.
Jumping over logs was both challenging and incredibly rewarding. It required precise timing, balance, and confidence in the bike's capabilities. The instructors provided step-by-step guidance on how to approach these obstacles, including proper body positioning and throttle control.
As I gained more experience and confidence, I found myself successfully navigating over logs, which was an exhilarating feeling. Overcoming these obstacles added an exciting element to the course, and it was a great way to put the skills we had learned throughout the day into practice.
In addition to conquering obstacles, we were guided through a series of progressively challenging terrains. From navigating gravel roads to tackling rugged hills and other obstacles, each section of the course allowed us to build our confidence and skills. The instructors were patient and provided individualized feedback to help us improve throughout the day.
The camaraderie among the participants was also a notable aspect. We shared stories, tips, and encouragement, creating a sense of community among fellow riders.
At the end of the day, I walked away from the course with a newfound appreciation for off-road riding and a significant improvement in my skills. I felt more confident in my ability to handle various terrains and obstacles, thanks to the expert guidance of the Trail Tours instructors.
In conclusion, my one-day motorcycle trail course with Trail Tours organized by Honda Canada was a fantastic experience. It combined learning, adventure, and camaraderie in a way that left me with lasting memories and a desire to explore more of the off-road world. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced rider, I highly recommend this course for anyone looking to enhance their motorcycle skills and have an unforgettable day on the trails, including the thrilling experience of jumping over...
Read moreSo my wife and I did this as a anniversary gift to ourselves. I emailed ahead and booked for both of us and my 12 year old son, for July 20th, for the full day package.
Getting to the meeting spot was easy, just follow the directions carefully. A guy on a dirt bike showed up and we followed him to the main location. After parking, it was a short walk to the registration area. Registration was easy, waiver forms, payment etc. You were then outfitted with all the gear needed to begin your experience. There are two tents, one each for males and females to change. They provide baskets to keep your stuff in, and lockers if you want to keep any valuables safe. The washrooms are basic, like camping basic. Recommend bug spray, as there are mosquitoes.
We were then split into groups, beginners, intermediate, advanced etc. Being a first time for us, we were all beginners. The instructors were cool guys. They sized us up for the appropriate bike sizes and took us out to the field. For the next 2 hours, we ran through all the basics, how to start the bike, use the clutch\gears, brake etc. Man, it was a brain rewiring! We kept plugging at the basics until everyone had a level of comfort. We then broke for lunch. You could order lunch for an additional fee on arrival, or bring your own. We brought ours, but everyone who ordered seemed to really enjoy theirs.
After lunch, we did a few more basics, and then it was time to hit the trail. Man those bikes are fast, and deceptively heavy. I will not lie. I crashed a few times. And then needed help to lift the bike, embarrassing! Be prepared, you will most likely crash or fall. Unless you are very well coordinated, it's hard to memorize all the steps in stopping properly with only a couple of seconds warning! But...it was SO MUCH FUN!!
I did fall badly one time, and sprained my wrist. The instructor was quite calm, provided an ice pack immediately, and called for a buggy to come pick me and the bike back up to return to base. My wife and son kept going with the instructor. They did much better than I did (I will say in my defense my bike was much heavier than theirs, lol!)
Steve, the owner, came quickly in the buggy and picked me up. I had a great chat with him. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about the dirt bikes, ATVs and his business.
My wife and son returned. Exhausted, full of stories, and with a great, fun experience. All in all, I have to say it was worthwhile adventure, Steve and his crew are good guys and make...
Read moreOn Friday May 3 2024 , I attended the beginners TrailTours day program to gain experience with off road dirt biking. Jake was the guide for our group, and I was so happy with his patient teaching style, I couldn't help myself from constantly thanking him during the session. A teacher like Jake was exactly what I needed and hoped for, and i learned the basics safely and with confidence in the lessons. I had an amazing time, and will recommend Trail tours to anyone who may ask in the future about a place to learn. For anyone booking lessons as a beginner, it would be silly to do a half day. Unless you are too fatigued and cannot continue, there simply is not enough time for a beginner to learn all the valuable skills. A full day provides some breathing room which you will be glad that you have. The time went by quick, which shows how much I was enjoying everything. I would also like to take the time and say that all the other staff members were super helpful, friendly, and approachable. I went by myself to Trail Tours, and I am quite happy I chose to do this without bringing a friend, so I could limit distractions and have all my own questions answered. I was having so much fun, I almost wish I did 2 days in a row just because I was in the groove. Towards the end of the day I felt much more confident and comfortable. Safety is a priority here, and asking questions or voicing a concern is highly encouraged. I feel that the positive environment Jake and the other staff provided was key for someone like myself, I really needed to take my time and they were more than happy to assist with individual riders needs and expectations. Lastly, from what I observed they take good care of the machines (dirt bikes and ATVs), I had no issues with mine and the Honda CRF250F they provided was simple and comfortable, perfect for my...
