Honestly this was the BEST EXPEDITION EVER. I did my Silver Duke of Ed Expedition at Why Not Adventures and I don't regret it. It was stunning at all of the campsites that we stayed at and the cabin was gorgeous. I had the BEST TIME EVER. I LOVED canoeing in the deep freshwater lake, the gentle breeze that blew on my face was wonderful. I really enjoyed this experience it was brilliant. We even made lasagna over a campfire, and brownies too! We saw so many animals! We spotted five painted turtles, a grass snake, ten brown spotted ducks, a male white tailed deer with large antlers and a zooming red-winged blackbird. At some point when we stayed at a cabin for one night we went for a night time paddle, and I was stunned at the view. The sky at night was a glowing orange and an inky blue light reflected on the shoreline made the shoreline look turquoise. We saw stars and two constellations, The Great Big Dipper, and Andromeda. The moon was out too, it had a hazy yellow glow in the dark sky. My favourite campsite was Site 15. Site 15 was such a beautiful campsite, the whole place looked like a tropical beach with soft white sand. I had so much fun, the entire trip was absolutely marvellous, I CAN'T WAIT to do my gold expedition at this amazing place! Thank you so much Why Not Adventures, for this amazing trip, I hope to see you again soon! Much Love, Akshara

Our overnight guided backcountry canoe trip was incredible! One mom and her four adult kids enjoyed gorgeous weather, breathtaking scenery, awe-inspiring stargazing and the food! Oh, the incredible food. Every detail was thoughtfully organized and planned for us. All we had to do was paddle and connect with each other and enjoy Mother Nature - and eat (did I mention the incredible food?) The staff and guide were so knowledgeable and friendly and made our trip truly memorable. The forecast threatened thundershowers for the whole day, but there was nothing but blue skies and a few friendly white fluffy clouds in this magical place. We paddled to special secret nooks and crannies and then over to a campsite on a small island. After setting up and enjoying an incredible gourmet dinner, we climbed a large rock on the shore to play with the echoes and watch the stars. Our guide told us the indigenous stories about the constellations and helped us find some huckleberries. If you love nature but are more of an occasional camper or would like to experience the backcountry at Keji with a little less work and fuss and more time to enjoy and connect with each other and nature - this unforgettable experience is for you.

We were absolutely delighted with our trip with Cody through the beautiful Medway Lakes – it’s been the highlight of our summer. Travelling from overseas and as part of a wider trip to Canada, there was no way that we could have brought all the kit and provisions with us to do the trip ourselves, let alone the local knowledge. The Medway Lakes themselves were spectacular – a mix of open lakes and beautiful channels. In our 3 days on the lakes, we only saw one other group (another Whynot group on their way back – a brief rendezvous to compare trail mix ingredients) so it very much felt like the proper Canadian wilderness. We had the campsites completely to ourselves – one by a babbling brook and the other on a spectacular beach to watch the sun go down. All the meals were freshly prepared and varied – our kids particularly liked the home-made cinnamon buns with icing for breakfast which gave us lots of energy for a full day of paddling. Cody did a great job in getting the kids involved in the setting up of camp, preparing the fire and helping with supper so it felt like an adventure rather than a chore. We would thoroughly recommend Whynot to anyone looking for an adventure in Nova Scotia.

Tuesday July 22, 2025; I had gone to the outfitters the night before to inquire about pricing. It was not busy and no one at the time said I could reserve. They handed me a price list and that was that. I asked about tandem kayaks and was told they had lots.

Arrived at 10am this morning. While in line the staff allowed people from the back of the line to bud infront of two other families. No one was managing the line, nor did they say anything.

When I got to the front we asked for the tandem and the staff(blond hair and glasses) asked us to sign things before noting she didnt didnt have one a tandem for the two hour minimum.

As a person with a disability I required the tandem 1. For body posture and 2. Because I need assistance if the minimum is 2 hours.

When I noted this to her the staff first questioned my disability. Sorry I dont have a cane or wheelchair. It is clear the staff did not have adequate training on disabled people because would know thats not something you do.

She then told me other than giving us two single kayaks there was no accommodations she could make as she cannot rent us boats we don't have.

I did express my displeasure that we were not told we had the option to reserve the kayaks ahead of time.

I also think that having a 2 hour minimum is incredibly ablisit and prevents a lot of disabled people from using these services as that is quite a long time. Disabled person should not have to pay extra. Many canoe rental do 30 min or 1 hour mins. The fact that the staff could not accommodate that also say a lot abkut the management's view on disabilities.

The service worker displayed very little patience for us and had very little critical thinking around solving the problem.

We were on the 4-day trip to the Southern Lakes with Dylan as our guide....and it has been truly amazing! The booking process a few months earlier as been very easy and we were able to provide all the information and process the necessary paperwork beforehand. We received all the information needed by email a few days before the start of the trip. The trip itself was fantastic. The Southern Lakes are absolutely beautiful. The trip included some portages that took some effort but nothing too strenuous and the paths for the portages were in great conditions. And we almost had to force Dylan to let us help. At camp, Dylan provided us with great food, cooked with mostly local and seasonal food. And his story-telling skills made the evenings on the beaches even better. Unfortunately, our trip was cut short due to the fire ban and closing of the backcountry by the government. Cody, the owner, came to find us by himself and drove us back to civilisation. They took great care of us, arranging a campsite, providing us with food and a gas stove and even some more paddling the following day in the front country. So despite the trip being shorter than we hoped for, which was at no one's fault, it was a great experience, thanks to the whole team of Why Not Adventures! If there were 10 stars to give, you would get them!

And yes, the freshly ground coffee in the mornings is...
