On Saturday I brought 7 teenage boys late in the day to enjoy an evening pass. We had an hour drive from our cottage and not only was it a first time experience at Hoopla for many of the boys, but also a first time cottage experience for a few of them. It was cold (13 degrees) and rainy. We were the only ones there. We were greeted with enthusiasm by the staff and despite the chilly and miserable weather, the lifeguards never showed any sign of complaint. After about an hour of goofing around, the boys started to show signs of slowing down. Rather than encouraging them to leave, the lifeguards actually arranged a game of capture the flag for them. 2 different coloured life jackets (the flags) were delivered by way of paddle board. The guards explained the rules and enforced them while the boys spent the next hour defending their bases and having the time of their lives. Core memories were definitely made. Unfortunately we were not able to be within an arms reach because my wife and I were falling in the water the whole time while our boys raced about. It was an upper body workout pulling myself up onto the float, def challenged myself. Itās refreshing fun, trampoline in the middle of the water is neat, something different. Thereās a slash pad close by and an area with tables for a family lunch....
