Great spot! They have 3 versions of trails, there is a shorter accessible trail (blue - took us 7min), a smaller trail with some inclines and declines (purple - took us 13min), and a large trail with lots of different terrain and inclines and declines (green - took us 38min). We took our husky/malamute mix recently and it was fantastic, he loved it. Trails are narrow, so don't recommend poorly behaved animals here as you have to pass people and other dogs very closely. There are about 10-12 parking spots total. This was more of an actual "hike" than a lot of the other trails in the area which was great. We did find 3 ticks on us/the dog upon leaving, so make sure to check yourself closely. No restrooms, no fee to enter the space/parking and there are only a...
Read moreEntering from Bathurst Street, you first walk along a maintained path in a pine forest. After a few hundred meters, the path becomes much rougher. In the spring, with the path shaded, it remains icy when everything is clear in the city. Winter boots and cleats (I did not bring mine) are a good idea. The farther you get in, the rougher the paths become. In a number of areas, the soil has become deep mud making the hills a true "slippery slope." There is a pond, there are some higher areas with a view of the surrounding countryside. It took me about 1.5 hours to hike a little over 4 km. In places, there are few trail markers and it's a bit of a guess. I would add one star if something could be done about those...
Read moreI only recently found out about this area. I would agree with the other reviews re:icy. Should be mindful of the time of you year and the potential conditions. Went on March 21,2021, and not only were there icy spots but some pretty serious mud (make sure to bring a change of shoes lol). Other than that, I loved the biodiversity of the area. On our walk we saw hawks, squirrels, chickadees, honey bees and an owl! Keep your eyes peeled and nature is all around. Pro-tip: bring some bird seed and the chickadees will eat from the palm of your hand....
