I loved this beautiful lake but my experience from last visit was not the positive one. I drive from Orleans to Lac Phillip about 60 miles it is a long drive. I arrived on the lake around 1:30pm want for a swim maybe half hour. When I got out of the water after 5 minutes the safe guard announced that the water is not good for swimming and that the beach is closed. I was really upset, because I drove more than hour, spent money for gas and to pay at the entrance of the lake and now I have to go home being not even a whole hour on the lake. Me and another person talked to a lifeguard and politely explained that the right thing to do is to give the warning and if someone wants to swim on their own risk not to stop them. Even the supervisor came (woman) and she said that if we go in the water that we will be escorted from the beach. There was no objective reason for them to behave like that because majority if not all of the visitors were already swimming and enjoying the warm water of the lake which meant that we would all get sick anyway. Today is the second day after my visit to Philip lake, I was not sick, no signs of diarrhea, womiting, itchy skin like I knew the water was safe, but the lifeguard and supervisor did not want to listen to me. You should and you need to change that rule. If someone wants to swim it's on their own risk. You cannot be more worried about my health than me you should know that. Another thing, the workers that work on that building on the beach should work when there's no one on the beach. We pay to come and rest from the noice in the city but the noice they make is terrible. They should work early in the morning up to 11:00am and go...
Read moreI have been going to lac phillip for about 9years, usually to kayak and always with our dog. and yes i do know that they are certain places that dogs are not allowed to go too. Last time we went was a few weeks ago in early july, and we were told by employees of the park that we were not allowed to bring our dog in our own kayak on the lake.( why no one ever told us this in a period of 9years is a mystery to us). They are signs that prohibit dogs on certain trails and on beaches but nothing about bringing your dog on your boat, and nothing on the gatineau park website about this either, but if you dig long enough it does say so on the NCC website. So beware if you bring your dog on your kayak. canoe, paddle boards...because a lot of you do, everytime we have gone out there, we have come across a lot of people with their dogs on the lake. Too bad it is a beautiful place, but i will not be going there anymore. And for the record dogs do not litter,...
Read moreGem of a place to spend the day with your family and friends. You can swim, boat, kayak, snorkel or just lie around the lake on the sand and soak the sun. The water is very clear and shore is very clean and well maintained. Drive to this place from Ottawa city is very scenic. There are two sand volleyball courts as well. Clean restrooms are within walkable distance from beach. We went here in July and luckily weather was very pleasant on the day. We spotted a beautiful momma deer with her kid and that was a sight to remember. Reach this place early in the day as it gets very busy later in the day. There are many picnic tables around the lake as well and few bbq pits as well which can be used by public. Dogs are not allowed though. Parking is $13 for full day. There's a playground as well for kids to enjoy. We really enjoyed our day and will definitely...
