We booked a 1.5 hr ride and drove in from Quebec City (around a 2.5 hr drive). Despite the long drive, everything was well worth it, the team was so warm and welcoming, and the dogs were absolute sweethearts! If given the chance, we could’ve spent hours just going around and giving each and everyone of them hugs and cuddles. The kennels were clean and the dogs and pups were well taken care of. We were lucky to be the first two guests of the season, and the dogs were fit and raring to go. The team had all sorts of gear to lend us, from boots, pants and jackets, to hats, mittens and hand warmers. The guides were so passionate in sharing their knowledge even slight barriers in language could not curb their enthusiasm about dog sledding. My guide had been dog sledding for 40+ years and even taught me about animal tracks. The guides knew each and every dog’s personality and strengths by heart and even taught us how to care for and harness them. Our guides were so helpful in taking our pictures and frequently stopped along the way in picturesque spots to offer to take our photos. We brought along a film camera which the guides were more than happy to also help us with. In fact, they took wonderful shots. The guide also stopped to let us have a go at driving! There was an ATV behind our sleds for safety and for if we got too cold and preferred to ride home in it instead. Overall, everything about our day there was perfect. So if you’ve booked a ride with them, look forward to a great adventure! And to the team, thank you for making our winter trip...
Read moreMy daughter and I went to Quebec City at the end of November and she really wanted to go dog sledding. After calling so many dog sledding companies, they all said there would not be enough snow at that time of year. Alaska du nord is the only company that said they could take us in the canicart (the summer training cart) if there was not enough snow for actual sledding. I am so happy that they were flexible with us so that my daughter could still get this experience! We had a great time with our guide who told us all about the dogs, dog sledding, the land we were on, and even stopped to show us how to start a small camp fire with birch tree bark. It was a great time and I highly recommend this company who went above and beyond to make sure we could have this experience with the...
Read moreWe had a great time in Alaskan Du Nord. We got to meet the beautiful dogs, connect with them, and then collaborate with the guide to set them up. The guide, Julien, was extremely helpful and patient; he took his time to explain everything, and repeated when we didn't understand some French words (he offered to speak in English but we wanted to practice our French, which he was happy to help us with). We then set off on a beautiful trip with the happy, well-trained dogs, and came back to collaborate with Julien again to detach the dogs and give them their well-deserved treats. The dogs seemed well-treated. Even retired dogs were still around on the premise and were strolling around happily, enjoying their "well-earned retreat" as...
