BLIND TIGER It was spontaneous. We saw it on Google Maps so decided to check another winery after the sensation that was Gray Monk. We locked in another location and turned righâwhoa. That is not a winery. Thatâs a mistake; itâs actually a left and up the road. Ten months later, we visited the same winery and found the same strange bug on our navigator. But donât worry, itâs not you. Blind Tiger does exist, although they may not see you.
GET IT! The name refers to the false fronts used in prohibition days. Original. And there is also a dog. Heâs not blind, but he doesnât really care for anyone that enters.
Blind Tiger is another small winery, though (Iâm not sure itâs estate) where the owners live around the corner, and more often than not, youâre talking to the winemakers directly at some point during your visit. The tasting room is minuscule, but Iâve never felt crowded in there. On both visits, their wood fire pizza truck on site was closed, depressing. The view from the hill was spectacularâŠit must be a requirement. One is not allowed to open a winery without an amazing view. Maybe thereâs a review, like a Rotten Tomato score for outlooks. In this case, Blind Tigerâs is certified fresh. As for the wineâs, they cover a broad spectrum from Chards and Gews (Iâm totally using that from now on) to Pinots and their signature Speakeasy Red. Being the weirdo like I am, I bought their âHush Upâ Blush, a fantastic rose. It was one of the 120 bottles we acquired from 60 wineries visited over a one week period, taking us from Osoyoos to Kelowna.
Blind Tiger must have made an impression given it was on a short list of wineries to revisit on the second trip. Blind Tiger may not boast the viticulture monuments of nearby Grey Owl or Arrowleaf. They are modest, almost inconspicuous, and worth our two visits, as well as yours.
Oh, and it may not be an important factor, but obviously itâs worth mentioning that on said second visit, there was an incubator filled with adorable baby chickens. I do mean adorable. And did I mention they were...
Read moreIf I could give it less stars â I would. We have had a handful of experiences here at Blind Tiger and 8/9 have been unpleasant. Unfortunately, the staff is not very welcoming, and their customer service is seriously lacking. They are unorganized and not willing to apologize for any inconveniences they cause their customers. They donât understand that even the people they turn away are customers and they deserve the same treatment as the people at their tables giving them money for their food and wine. The first few times we went we were turned away, with sass, as they were very busy. The next time we decided to make a reservation and when we arrived, we were told no reservation was necessary. So, the next time we didnât make one and upon arrival we were told that no one without a reservation gets seated ever, again with a side of sass. We decided to order take out one night and they told us they only do take out Wed-Fri. So, we called again on Thurs, and we were informed they do not do take out any day of the week. THEN giving this place one last shot â we made reservations for our anniversary dinner and even made sure to look online to make sure they were serving pizza and wine. When we got there, they said they no longer serve pizza. No apology was ever offered to us for the inconveniences we have experienced which is a shame as we really hoped to enjoy this place. Would not recommend to a...
Read moreVisited from out of town and was excited to try something new as we have been to a number of local wineries! The atmosphere and vibe were awesome and the dog menu and dog friendly environment on the patio were a highlight however the service was quite poor from our server Samantha we requested a few simple things like an alt red wine to the ice wine on the tasting flight, and a substitute for bacon on our pizza she seemed to not be willing or knowledgeable on making small changes to accommodate us.I feel she was new and Mayb will develope more customer service skills as she goes. The staff did take our picture at the end from their look out which was great. We had two different kinds of pizza an arugula and goat cheese flatbread and a Canadian pizza I love the dough done in the wood fire oven and the Canadian pizza was a bit nicer our first pick was lacking in flavour! We had a nice time the view was great and they grow their own basil tomatoes and...
