Our hiking experience was magnificent. The trail was short, moderate, and just challenging enough. The fence and chain along the path for safety were smart additions. We visited during a rainstorm, and at the summit, it was foggy, creating a unique, almost magical atmosphere like a nature party.
Despite the slippery conditions, we enjoyed the scenery. If you're careful, you can too. The view of the reservoir on the way down was beautiful and well worth the hike.
It wasn’t busy, and we easily found plenty of parking spots. The parking area also had clean washrooms, which was a nice convenience. Overall, it was a fantastic hike that offered both adventure and stunning views. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great...
Read moreI just did this hike for the first time and I really liked it. However, there are some very steep sections. If you're not and experienced hiker, be careful. The East end has been gated closed. 😞 West Shore Parkway now goes right across to Sooke road. 😀🖒 Also, there are actually two peaks. Just when you thought you were at the summit, follow the blue makers down a little gully and up to a second peak. Nice, nice, very nice. PS: For some reason the extention of West Shore Parkway doesn't appear on Google Maps yet. 🤔 But it does go right through to Sooke...
Read moreGreat place to hike. With 2 summits, and 2 different viewpoints from each one. Park at the Mt Wells parking lot. Then hit the trail. You will cross the flowline, then the road. Just keep following this well marked trail. When you get to what seems to be the summit take a look. Such a wonderful view of the Sierra city, Mt Finlayson, and Mt Mcdonald right next to it. On a good day Mt Baker is in plane site. Then head into the trees for the second viewpoint that brings you face to face with Mt Mcdonald to the west and the strait to the south and east. Wonderful trees. Rated as an A2 hike. (A for Sierra Club caloric value, and 2 for Yosemite...
