I recently returned to Leamington after 8 to 10 years—last time I was here, I was starting to study at the University of Windsor and had visited the southernmost point of Canada, Point Pelee National Park, a few times. This time, I planned to go back there, but a friend who lives not too far from here recommended a different spot, and I’m so glad they did! It turned out to be a hidden gem. The place is absolutely stunning, especially in the fall when the leaves were a vibrant mix of yellow and red. It was also great catching up with old friends and colleagues during my visit. The beauty of the area and the company made this trip even...

This park is a must see. It's small but beautifully natural.

There is limited parking, but it's free.

The walk on the wooden boardwalk through the woods takes about 40 minutes if you stroll casually.

Lots of flora to see and some incredible trees.

The best time to visit is spring when the Trillium are in bloom. There are literally 1000s of them throughout the woods. I saw all colours of trillium from the common white, to the pink, and the more rare burgundy too!

No picnic tables that I could see but grassy areas for a blanket. No restrooms so prep the family before you head out.

A great spot to walk a dog or take the kids for an...

What a perfect spot for a walk in nature. Surrounded by tall and majestic trees. Some mosquitos come with the territory too but don't worry, they won't kill you.

Lots of enjoyable boardwalks to mindfully walk upon. Take your time, it's not a race. If you can walk it in 15 minutes, next time I invite you to walk it in 30 minutes, or more! Keep an eye out for the not so common Black Gum trees that we have here too.

Thank you ERCA for managing and protecting this Carolinian sanctuary! God bless!

Porta John on site always...

A small wooded area preserved by the Essex Region Conservation Authority. Major portions of the trail are boardwalk while some portions are mud trails. The feeling of being amidst the giant trees makes us feel humble and connected to the earth more. It is sad that this small woodlot is all that's left after humans deforested the area for agriculture. We need more trees, more forest cover. Thank you ERCA for maintaining the woods. The toilets need refurbishing.

Wow! I’ve lived in Essex county my entire life and have never been here. What an incredible old growth forest with an amazing amount of very tall trees. Beautiful loop trail with many boardwalks. An opportunity to see what Essex County looked like before farming cleared the forests. A gem!
