This has to be one of the most amazing museums I’ve ever visited! The passion and pride of the local people, their culture, and the deep maritime history of the region shine through every exhibit. This isn’t your typical museum—there are indoor and outdoor sections, real boats you can board and explore, and immersive displays that let you truly feel what life was like at sea. The interactive videos and hands-on exhibits bring the story of the Saint Lawrence River and its vital role in trade to life. Every corner reflects the dedication of those who preserve this history. The grounds are immaculate, and every display is curated with care. Plan to spend 3–4 hours to truly enjoy it all. Special thanks to Claude at the store (and his sidekick Wilson) for adding a personal touch to a memorable...

Depends on why you are visiting...

Great for adults and boat enthusiasts. This museum has lots of great displays and information. The large ships on display were great and a nice way to move around the property. We were on a very long car ride and this was a great place to stop and stretch our legs. They even had a little walking trail. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.

We visited with a 10 year old and 13 year old. The 13-year old was very bored and uninterested. Kids don't want to read all the information plaques or sit through the videos. But my 10-year old really enjoyed exploring all the ships on display.

I would recommend this spot for adults, but if you have pre-teens and teens, you might want to drive past this location (unless they...

I did not expect this to be one of my highlights in Charlevoix. We came on a rainy day to pass the time with our child. First off, it seemed almost too cheap when they told us the price, surprising these days. We walked around, saw the short video, went on some boats and had a very nice time. But then we also walked the grounds in the back, a really nice extra. There are activities for children as you walk and you wind through the forest and high grass fields which was great even in the rain. The main issue is that the mosquitoes are ferocious. Bring mosquito repellant, which we did and still got a lot of bites, nevertheless we did...

Fun for all ages, explore the museum first and learn how shops were constructed as well as stored during the summer months, even the life of a sailor is explored. Next, step right aboard ship to explore the cabins, gullies and even the captain's quarters. One of the boats even includes a multimedia presentation, every 4th presentation in English. Many exhibits also have translation but not all. There is an awesome gift shop and general store as well as great little trek exploring the forest, with kid friendly play areas and a real garden maze! The routes are quite organized and easy to follow, you can also get a free map at the front gate!
