I will write an overall experience at the hotel. The place looks contemporary, up to the general expectations in standards. The place looks fairly new. Rooms are very clean and communication with front desk excellent. Access to the pool is easy and there is always staff that can help. Theres is a cafe that serves free coffee and sells beer and wine, which you can also order from your room. At the pool, facilities are clean and stock of clean towels is always available. Pool is 1.5 at its deep end, so it is proper for the untrained and children. Pool has a water fall from the ceiling and is nicely adorned with LED lights. The place has a glass wall that allows for natural light to mix with the interior light. The water in the pool is warm enough for children to enjoy longer periods of time in the water, but of course, too long (over an hour) periods are not recommended. The pool place is also warm enough for older people to seat close to the edge and enjoy games or reading. There is a restroom and a shower. There are tables and reclaining beach chairs. There is an elevator that takes you from the pool straight to your floor. Pool is open until 10 for children and for adults only until 11 pm. The staff of the hotel id always professional and friendly. For the cafe you have to talk to someone at the front desk. The restaurant is not licensed as it is a family setting, but the menu although it does not have too many choices, it has good choices. If for whatever reason you need to buy household things such as diapers, or some groceries, there is a grocery store across the hotel. Also across the hotel there is a bingo and a local Health facility in the Brokenhead band territory. They also have a sports bar if you want to change the scenery of the hotel. Of course, there is the casino, of which I did not experience nor are experience in such a place, but surely looks like a large place of its own separate from the hotel and the dining room/restaurant. The whole place is built on flat terrain so it is fairly accesible for...
Read moreRooms were clean, beds were comfortable, no issues with checking in or out and the front door staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Visited the casino and two security guards stared me down upon entry. No smiles, no greetings, just a cold hard stare the whole time I walked by. It was very uncomfortable as I try to always have a friendly demeanor when approaching staff. Went to the lounge on two different nights and recieved excellent service the first night (June 2/24) and terrible service the second night (June 3/24). There was a woman with dark hair and glasses who was unapproachable, stone-faced, dismissive, and off-putting. Service was very slow even though there were not many tables. I sat at the bar with a friend and she served me after a while and not my friend. When he tried to get her attention and order a drink, she walked away and snapped "yeah I'll get to you in a minute" with a rude tone. A younger gentleman working with her was serving my table and there was a miscommunication about my dad's bill. This young man was also not friendly at all, spoke very sternly to my dad, and appeared to be frustrated at the miscommunication. I asked if he was having a bad day and he immediately smiled and said no. I didn't even know he could smile, because he was not friendly at all until I said something. I was also charged for an extra beer that I didn't drink but felt too uncomfortable to deal with the miserable staff that night. Stayed here for work but would probably never come back for pleasure. Perhaps better customer service training would be beneficial. Several of my friends and colleagues had the same things to say about these particular...
Read moreIn 45 years of travelling throughout Canada and the U.S., we have never had a more unpleasant hotel stay then we had this past weekend (Feb 25/23). The singular bright spot was the spanish speaking woman at the front desk who checked us in. Smiling and inviting all the way, and a pleasure to deal with. It went completely downhill from there. This is the first time in about 10 visits to this hotel that we were put on the second floor. We've always stayed on the upper floors in the past. ALL evening long, and up to nearly 2AM, there were kids running in the halls, slamming doors, and yelling to each other. Complete inconsideration and ignorance towards everyone else in the hotel, and I fully blame their parents, who were nowhere to be found (likely in the casino). Just past 11:30 we had a woman pounding on our door. I had to get up to tell her she had the wrong room. The housekeeping supervisor was consistently miserable and cold. Each time we walked past her we got a stare-down and not so much as a smile, let alone a good evening or good morning. They also changed the restaurant. The buffet choices were extremely limited, and grossly overpriced. We didn't even stay for the breakfast buffet. No microwave in the room. No extra pillow. Ironing board but no iron. We've never been so happy to leave a hotel, and I can assure you we will never go back. It used to be a fun weekend for us to stay there, but the changes they made will doom this once fine hotel by chasing away what were once...
