Echo Dale Regional park is an absolute gem, hidden in Medicine Hat, Alberta. When I first saw it, my thought was : ‘how is this place not packed with people?’ And then I thought, ‘what an ideal place to have in our backyard and for locals to grow up enjoying and making family memories at!’

To find it, you drive in the plains, in the middle of nowhere and then suddenly you turn and descend into a hidden coulee valley. It’s like a magic trick. The river flows beside the tall coulees cliffs and there are two manmade lakes side by side. One is for swimming with sand and lifeguards and the other is tree lined with a dock for paddle boards.

The park is enormous, covered in large shady trees, has picnic tables and is absolutely idyllic. There is lots of parking, river access and also a gorgeous overlook. I even took my aunt and uncle from the Vancouver area here to see it and they loved it too.

Medicine Hat is very lucky to have a park like this. Sometimes when people live in a place their whole lives, they don’t appreciate what they have and this place is one of them. I have lived in three provinces and eleven cities and have never seen a...

Was just visiting Echo Dale a couple days ago. Still as nice as I recall when I was younger. We had fun swimming despite the notices all over about the possibility of swimmers itch. The annoucements and posted warnings were appreciated and included instructions to help prevent troubles. I would hope most people would shower off well reguardless of swimmers itch warnings or not. Our family was swimming for an hour and the kids were fine after a good shower. The warnings did specify that they were in the process of cleaning the problem up, and may have been very minimal when we got there. Very beautiful area even if you do not swim. Highly recomend Echo Dale. Other things to do include walking paths, beach volley ball, soccer field, bbq areas, Edho Dale Farm (appt req), boat launch to the river, group camping by permit. Tons to do here. Thanks for...

This park has great mountain biking trails with nice jumps, sweeping corners, table tops and lots of fun. You start at the top where the lookout is and go down to lakes. There’s also trails to ride up and the trails across the hills to connect up with the old motocross cross country trail back to Medicine at Campground. Park also offers a nice big change rooms washrooms and concession. The beach is groomed daily, lifeguards on duty, and the water is filtered in the lake. there is start trout in the other pond and lots of trees. Nice walking paths and right by the river. And also hear the echos from the red cliffs on our side of the river and the heritage home and barn is also great to see along with the animals and mine. There’s also a blacksmith shop that I see in the...

Echo Dale is a beautiful little oasis not far from Medicine Hat. It's a great place to step away for an afternoon or a whole day. There is a small historical farm, a swim lake, and a paddling lake. The swim lake has lifeguards that start at 11am daily and kids under 9 need to have someone with them in the water 16 or older at all times. It has a beautiful sand base and beach. There are public washrooms and showers (indoor and outdoor) available as well as ample change space. This area was developed for use before many places were designed for handicap use so there are no handicap shower rooms or family change spaces sadly. This is definitely a place you need to stop and see in the summer when you're in the area!

What a beautiful place, a hidden gem near Medicine Hat! Nice and clean swim lake, attractive boat lake for your activities and really enough space to find your own oasis in the shade of an old tree or in the sun. Large picnic site, you even can do your own bbq there! Or get something to chew at the concession. It's delicious, fast and the girls and boys there are super friendly! I was impressed by the wonderful environment of surrounding prairie and the Saskatchewan River! This park is unique, one has to experience the beauty and comfort there! Spent every day of my second week of my holiday there, unforgettable impressions!
