Such a beautiful place for a free hike! (No cost for parking.) Just be aware Google maps will tell you that you have arrived but you’ll have to drive up the road to the right for a bit after that) There are various trails so you can pick your distance. We did the full /longest loop and really loved it. A lot of beautiful scenery. It is pretty rocky off and on, and roots to watch for. (Not a negative from our perspective but something to be aware of) It took us around an hour and a half to an hour+45 minutes or so to do the full length at a decent hiking pace. To be aware: There weren’t any garbage cans when we went so just remember that you will have to bring any garbage out with you. Dog parents: Dogs are allowed and ours absolutely Loved it!! We didn’t encounter anyone else while there which is so nice for a reactive pup. She was thrilled by the varying terrain, smells and many squirrels/chipmunks. However, we did pull off around 50 ticks (no exaggeration) from her long fur (thankfully she is on a flea and tick preventative and vaccinated for Lyme!). I almost gave it a 4 star due to the ticks but honestly if you don’t have a pup and wear long clothing you’ll be fine! Neither me nor my husband had...
Read moreNice nature reserve to explore during the fall or late summer, lots of trails and paths to take so I would recommend taking a brochure/pamphlet at the welcome centre to keep track of where you're going and probably plan out a bit where you want to go before starting.
We took a longer path and it took us about an hour and a half to see what we wanted to see, or approximately 5km. Of course depending on the path you take, it can be a much shorter track.
Highlights in my opinion were the old oak tree on the north wind trail and the beaver pond as a whole using the beaver pond trail. Downside is some of the trail markings throughout are a bit confusing at times.
There's a decent amount of parking space along that one area of...
Read moreA great spot for a winter walk or snowshoeing. We had never been here before but will definitely return. Trails are well marked. We printed off the map online before coming and it was more than adequate to work your way around the many trails. Someone had obviously tried skiing some of the trails but not ideal for X-country. Trails are twisty and no tracks set. However for snowshoeing, and even walking on the well used trails it was perfect. No charge for use but there is a donation box. Google Maps showed us we had arrived but in fact we had further to go. Keep going past the driveway and you will come to the end of the road and a turnaround. Room to park a few cars and the front gate is...
