Went as a group of 10 including 3 children, for the long weekend. Booked two cabins with an attached washroom over phone (they were internally connected) and a campground spot. We set up a tent at the campground and saw a couple of trailers and an RV there. The cabins are about 5 mins walk from the campground, which is closer to the river. Each camping spot has a fire pit, and fire wood is available to buy from the main office, which is also where the cafe is. The area near the parking and the main building has outdoor courts for basketball (hard Court), volleyball (with sand) and a couple of hundred meters away is a soccer field. The cabins have plenty of electric points for multiple phone chargers. The washrooms were really good with cute shower areas.
Special shout out to Bree (Is it spelt Brie?) for patiently answering our questions, coming over to our cabin personally to resolve an electrical problem (there was no electrician available on the Sunday), and for the fantastic communication before and throughout our stay, including suggestions for activities around. Another shout out to Josie for helping us with the fire wood. Apparently a bad apple (guest?) had removed smaller wood pieces from a few bags that were kept outside. The entire staff was great and helpful.
This place is absolutely stunning for an outdoor stay and a group get away with family and friends. The River trail was great. The sleep experience in the tent was memorable and peaceful. We didn't bring our bikes due to the weather, however the place was very busy during the Sunday...
Read moreDo not go to this place! My daughter just came back from a school trip and said that the food was cold and horrible. They were given 1 pancake that was smaller than the palm of your hand for breakfast and 1 bacon strip. The cups for drinks were like shot glasses. They had plain rice that wasn’t even seasoned with meatballs and another day with chicken that was raw. If my daughter didn’t take snacks she would have been hungry the whole time. The principal showed up the next day to bring pizza, cookies and juice. That was the best meal they had. Also the staff tried to threaten the kids with not giving them food if they didn’t participate in activities lol
Oct 13- The principal sent out an email to parents regarding the lack of quality food. The principal mentioned she would inform your facility. This is why the principal showed up with pizza because the kids were hungry. I’m glad I sent my daughter with snacks. If it wasn’t for the principal showing up with pizza I would have had to pick up...
Read moreWhen the trails are groomed and weather and trail conditions are just right this place is fantastic for fat biking! Single track trails are very nice when they are groomed and are very flowy, almost all are one way which is nice. They are very active and keep their instagram trail report site up to date almost daily for fat biking trail reports. Beginner to advanced friendly. Make sure to check your tire pressure and keep it well below 8psi to reduce ruts and don't ride when the temperatures are above zero. Very nice sitting/warming area and cafe/pub. Highly recommended if you want to bike somewhere for dedicated fat bike trails with a fair price. If trails are not groomed yet, I do not recommend coming since they are almost un-ridable due to loose snow and ruts which develop. If there is a big snowfall it is best to wait a few days to give them time to groom and have the snow set until confirmed on the trail reports...
