Spirit Sands Trail is a hike not to be missed when in Spruce Woods provincial park. Hike begins through beautiful forest on a sandy path (we walked barefoot) up hills. After about 2 km on the short trail, we climbed a large sand dune and ended up on the edge of the desert. Magnificent scenery! We hiked with children, it was not too hard for them, but we took shorter route. Bring water and don't do this trek in hot sun. We went around sunset mid-June after a hot day and it was magical.

A quiet clean camp ground great for kids and family. Right in spruce woods provincial park. Well established hiking trails through Manitoba's sand dunes, wagon ride ($17 a person approx 1.5hr ride) good beach area but rather small, the Assiniboine river flows through spruce woods so if you have a canoe or inflatable it's a nice river to float down. Not all campsites are made equal look at pictures before you book on their site.

This is a beautiful stop, the campground bays 1 through 7 are exceptionally beautiful and the bathrooms are clean. There's a cute little concession and a nice visitors centre too. Heads up that there's no cellphone service. The beach is well kept. Theres life jackets available to use. The water was shallow this year in late July but I don't think it would be shallow every year.
