We just skied two days at Marmot and are less than impressed. The first day we got there and it was so windy only the eagle and ski school chairs were open. The lines were LONG and it was icy, but we got in 3 (mid mountain)runs went for lunch. Then were told they were shutting the hill down as we were heading back out. It was 1230. We got to temporary parking and it was packed, the attendant asked what we wanted to do, we said we were coming back tomorrow and would get our refund then, she said ok. Got there the next morning and was told that was not the case, no refunds the next day- they ended up giving me 50% off my kids tickets- so $45- nothing for the adult passes. I was really upset but determined to enjoy the day. Get to the lift line, and waited for over an hour as the Canadian express was being fixed and the eagle was still broken from the day before. It was crazy icy again, but softened up had a great day until the last run, my friends kid was in front of me in the line and is not tall enough to scan his pass, he was struggling so I went to lift his jacket and the lift girl started yelling at me that I can’t go that and that’s fraud. So my husband said “the kids can’t reach, the scanners are too high” to which she replied “ you need to go to our retail store and buy a pass holder for their helmets then or put it in their glove” the card is bigger than my kids hands and wouldn’t fit in their gloves in any case. I used to love marmot, but the service is terrible and it is just not worth the expense, we will not be going back...

Poor staff experience

I'm not one for leaving bad reviews but being mistreated by staff doesn't sit well with me.

I paid for 4 ski passes through a "hotel-ski-resort package" where I had to schedule the ski days in advance. My partner and I travelled all the way from Vancouver by car (about 9 hours) and settled to ski on March 25 & 26. On the 25th, we arrived at the resort and spoke with a staff, asking if there's a chance we can modify/divide the ski passes (1 for me and 3 for my partner) as I myself don't do winter sports. The gentlemen kindly accommodated our request and let us know that my partner can cash in his 3 passes whenever he chooses to that same week.

My partner used 1 pass on the 25 and 1 pass on the 26 I used 1 pass on the 26

With 1 pass left, my partner returned to the hill on the 28 and was quickly turned away by the staff. We explained to them that their own staff allowed for these changes and gave us the ok to divide our passes between the two of us. They continued to cut us off when we were trying to explain their mistake. They did not allow him to enter, even though we already PAID for these 4 passes. As we continued to express our frustration towards the misinformation they've provided, they ended the conversation and we had to turn around.

May I also add that we visited during slow season and the resort was pretty empty. We're now left with 1 unusable ski pass with no option to transfer it over to another time/stay... Not keen to recommend...

Having skied Whistler exclusively for the past couple of decades, which sort of spoils you for other mountains, I was ready to dramatically lower my expectations on my first visit to Marmot. Instead, it was an incredible experience: super friendly staff everywhere, lots of great runs (I mostly skied Paradise and Tranquilizer - both are excellent blue runs), and there were virtually no lineups to board the chairs.

There are, I believe, 91 runs, about one third green, one third blue, and one third black. It took me about 20 minutes from the top of the mountain to the bottom.

There are 4 parking lots, and you ski directly from the parking lot (pick up rental gear and your lift tickets on your way to the parking lots - you can stop for 15 minutes near the entrance).

I rented ski gear and it was all very good - I booked online and everything was waiting for me and set up correctly - took me less than 4 minutes to collect my ski gear.

There aren't, at all, the sort of apres ski amenities one finds in Whistler, and the mid mountain chalet was sold out of half their menu, but I was there for the skiing, and had an absolute blast - I'll certainly...

I consider Marmot one of my home mountains, together with sunshine village. Big fan of the size and placement of the parking lots being near the bottom of the hill, meaning you can pick up things from the car throughout the day rather than storing them in the chalet. Lifts are up to date with almost all quads with the exception of the knob chair which is still a double. Lower runs can be packed as with any hill, conditions change quickly, but if you get a good clear day go to the knob for great powder, not many make the trip up here. If you're adventurous, hike to the top after getting off the chair. The view is incredible. I've been here for a few freezing days though, (-30) and it ain't that much fun on those days. Tip: from January on, they have the midweek deal where you can get a lift pass and hotel stay at the Marmot lodge for roughly $125 per person. That's pretty much $25 pp for the hotel room.

This mountain is beautiful, not too big but with lots of nice trails. We came on a super cold day, so we spent alot of time warming up in the lodges. We really enjoyed the mid-lodge and the cafeteria was a good call for lunch. We had a veggie burger each and shared fries. They were delicious! The fries were nice and salty and the burgers were flavorful and had that "greasy burger joint" flavor but without the greasiness. Because of the cold weather we didn't have to wait in any lines for tickets or lifts, but couldn't go more than a run or 2 without going in to warm up. We enjoyed the runs, but it was too bad all the new terrain was closed. One of our better decisions that day was parking in the fourth parking lot. It was just a short walk to the nearest run and we were able to ski/board right to our car at the end of the day. I would definitely come again, but maybe later in the season closer to spring.

Marmot Basin stands out as an exceptional snow resort nestled amidst the majestic Canadian Rockies, and here's why it's simply amazing. Firstly, picture yourself carving through pristine powder on its vast slopes, surrounded by breathtaking mountain vistas – it's a skier's or snowboarder's dream come true. Secondly, Marmot Basin's well-groomed trails cater to all skill levels, offering exhilarating runs for beginners to expert thrill-seekers, ensuring everyone can experience the joy of gliding down these slopes. And let's not forget the cozy alpine village atmosphere, where après-ski activities, delicious cuisine, and warm hospitality await, making every moment off the slopes just as memorable as those on. Ultimately, whether you're seeking adrenaline-pumping adventures or serene mountain escapes, Marmot Basin delivers an unforgettable winter wonderland experience that's truly second to none.
