If you're in Jasper, you absolutely must make time for Pyramid Lake. It's truly a beautiful and serene escape that offers a peaceful contrast to some of the more bustling attractions. We were completely captivated by the calm waters and the stunning views of Pyramid Mountain reflecting on the surface. It's truly picture-perfect and incredibly tranquil.
One of the best parts of our visit was how easy it was to get there. We opted for the Jasper Transit shuttle, and it was incredibly convenient both to and from the lake. No stress about parking, just a relaxing ride right to the beauty.
While you're there, be sure to take advantage of the Pyramid Lake Lodge. Even if you're not a guest, you can pop in and grab some snacks or drinks for a small price. It's perfect for refueling after exploring!
Speaking of exploring, we highly recommend walking on the trails around the lake. They offer fantastic perspectives and are wonderfully maintained. Just a friendly reminder, since you're in bear country, it's always wise to bring your bear spray to be safe. We felt completely at ease knowing we were prepared.
Pyramid Lake is a truly special place that will leave you feeling refreshed and inspired....
Read moreBack in Sept 2015: I planned to get there about midnight to shoot the Milky Way. Very dark, no light pollution. Very secluded. My wife was very worried about forest animals like bears and other creatures especially in the dark. When I got there, there were no fewer than 10 photographers with tripods all trying to get their best shot. So, no bears. If you get there in the dark and see photographers already there, take care to walk lightly on the wood bridge, it bounces and makes cameras & tripods bounce too, and ruins the shot for everyone. BE polite and considerate, so photographers won't yell at you. IN Sept we saw a bit of Northern Light. It was not impressive - just a bar of white light for a short time. But it was a FIRST for me... As for astrophotos that night.... got nothing that was worth showing. Next time, I'll spend more time and do my homework on my...
Read moreLocated about four kilometers north of Jasper, Pyramid Lake is one of the main tourist attractions in Jasper National Park, along with Maligne Lake, Medicine Lake and Patricia Lake, but it seemed a bit less crowded to us. This lake is also very beautiful and worth seeing, especially Pyramid Island with its breathtaking view of Pyramid Mountain. There are several picnic spots along the lake’s shore and also smaller sandy beaches where you can go for a swim in the lake. When we visited in summer, however, the water was very cold - if you prefer to lie in the sun instead, you can also do so on the beaches. There are also several hiking trails in the area around the lake that connect the...
