Little Cove Beach, Tobermory – June 2025 Review 🏞️
Little Cove Beach continues to be one of Tobermory’s hidden gems, offering crystal-clear turquoise waters, a rocky shoreline, and stunning views of Georgian Bay. Visiting in June 2025, we experienced ideal early-summer weather—warm enough to swim, paddle, and relax, yet cool in the evenings for a perfect cottage escape.
🪨 The beach is rocky (not sandy), so water shoes are highly recommended. It’s great for snorkeling, with plenty of underwater rock formations and clear visibility. The surrounding cliffs and trails offer great photo spots and peaceful nature walks.
🚗 Parking is limited and must be pre-booked online, especially during weekends. Arrive early or plan a weekday trip if possible.
👣 Little Cove also serves as an entry point for hikers heading into Bruce Peninsula National Park. The nearby Grotto and Indian Head Cove are must-sees and can be accessed via hiking trails.
✅ Pros:
Beautiful, clear water
Peaceful, scenic environment
Great for hiking and photography
⚠️ Things to Know:
Rocky terrain, not suitable for young children without supervision
Water is cold, even in June—great for adventurous swimmers!
No washrooms on-site—plan ahead

Read moreWe were there with kids on August 25th 2021, morning hours between 9:00 and 11:00, it was not busy at all, however when we were leaving at 11:00, the parking lot was full 100%, so if you want to park - come earlier, as we did :) parking is not free, there is a Parkomate. The beach itself is so divinely clean, picturesque and cozy at the same time. Water was rather fresh and cool, but we swam, it felt as 20 Celsius maybe (end of August!). I would recommend special shoes as if you would take for coral reef and any other rocky lake entrances. We were in special shoes. There are small lake snakes in the water, but not to worry: they are not poisonous, and they are afraid of people, they are even cute, our kids were not scared, but they are 8 and 10 y.o. What else: the beach is rocky, so yes - taking a foam mat would be a good idea for drying and laying...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to take a spontaneous trip up to Tobermory, as parking for the Grotto was already booked up in advance, so we ended up at the Little Cove Beach. There was a long drive down a gravel road, and limited parking spaces, but the parking is FREE! The beach itself was rocky and beautiful! It is a bit small, but there was still plenty of space for everyone who is around. There is also the trail from the Little Cove Beach to the Grotto, we hiked in for about 2.5 hours, before deciding to turn back. The trail does have snakes but we did not see any. The trail is probably not ideal for individuals who's...
