We visited this as a break on a road trip and it was a really nice place. The axe is indeed pretty big yet not to the level of "holy cow". The well maintained flower beds and view of the lovely river do make it a very fine whole. Worth a stop if you pass on the nearby highway, but in my view not so unique that it would in itself be the main goal of a trip. Ample parking on the site and lovely view of the river. We stopped for lunch and discovered there was a grocery store across the street which made shopping very easy. After lunch and taking pictures we went to the beach and rented water bikes. They also have kayaks available for rent at a reasonable price.
We really enjoyed our stop at the world's largest ex and highly recommend it. Be warned that it is a short drive off the highway and you will probably feel lost before...
