Sheena, Ricky and Amanda have created a wonderful, personable experience! They are dedicated to ensuring there's always room for conversation, and will do everything in their power to find you the experience you're looking for, whether it's icebergs, whales, or local knowledge/suggestions.
As an experienced fisherman, Ricky is able to identify any features of interest and is skilled at navigating the Labrador waters. They have also provided a book with local knowledge of whales they normally see in the area.
Shena wants to share with you the beauty of Labrador and your comfort throughout the entirety of the tour. There are three levels of available watching space and Ricky switches from the lower to upper steering in order to be accessible for any questions.
They have extra gloves and hats on board if you get cold. On the way back in from your adventure, they share tidbits of local information about the area while providing snacks and beverages for a small cost. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options are available. There is a heated cabin area available for use throughout the tour if you get cold and want to warm up.
The office is filled with local handmade crafts including socks, hats, mitts and dishcloths. There are also more souvenir-type crafts such as labrador decorated wooden options. They also have branded merchandise which is cozy and practical.
I would highly recommend this as the best boat tour I've been on if you're looking for a more personalized experience...
Read moreWe were in the midst of a 12-day Labrador Newfoundland loop—two carloads of people starting in Toronto—when we heard about Whalers Quest and their iceberg tour. The season had not really opened yet, so they were able to schedule us on the same day we called.
What a thrilling experience and special memory for all eight of us! The air was brisk and the water was choppy, and we made ourselves at home on the upper and middle decks for sightseeing and photos, with occasional trips to the heated lower deck to warm up (with good views there, too). We circled a large iceberg with others in the distant background and then motored over to a smaller one where we could get up close and personal. Amazing! None of us had ever seen an iceberg in real life. We’ll remember this for the rest of our lives.
Sheena and skipper Rick kept everything interesting while giving us enough space to enjoy on our own. Do ask them about their experiences in the area, as they are the real thing, with lifetimes of experience growing up and living on the waters of Red Bay and beyond.
If you’re driving along the coastal highways, it’s definitely worth trying to fit in a tour with this outfit. We did the iceberg tour, but I wouldn’t hesitate to also try the...
Read moreWhat a great experience on the water as well as on land with Sheena, Amanda and Rick - a family owned company through and through! Everybody was so lovely, welcoming and informative, even after a very long day for them. Spontaneously my dog and I took part in an evening cruise around the harbour. I was so stoked when they welcomed my dog on the boat, I couldn't believe it. Even though the water was choppy we had a good time while getting lots of information from Sheena about the area, history and nature around Red Bay plus watching birds and some seals. Thank you for that!
The best and long-term reminder: I was so lucky to purchase a wool sweater self-made by Sheena's grandma - with care instructions via quick phone call 🩵 And if you need a local place to boondock, don't hesitate to ask! They'll...
