I lived in Pincourt growing up, so I'd frequently visit Pointe-du-Moulin park on the weekends.

The windmill is the main attraction but it's really just as worthwhile to visit the park for the swamp (which has walkways over it), small creeks, and views of the St. Lawrence River, Lac St. Louis, and the downtown Montreal skyline in the distance (with Lachine in the foreground from this vantage point).

When I was a kid, there was also some spectacular autumn foliage for the final kilometre or so of Boulevard Don Quichotte approaching the park east of Boulevard Perrot, but not so much these days since that golf course was built, but there are still plenty of trees within the park.

If you don't mind the swampy smell, Pointe-du-Moulin Park is one of the best places in the Montreal area to have a picnic lunch while watching...

Being a local my whole life, I've always enjoyed coming here to relax and be by the water or have a picnic. It's never over crowded, unless there's a festival happening and it's nice when the park staff dress up and provide the historic stories about the park. Great for photos, of you're into photography and fun times can be had of you want to rent a kayak or go canoeing (Centre Nautique on the premises). They offer home made bread, the old fashion way of preparing it, although, check their schedule and arrive early because it...

Always a nice relaxing walk. The park is closed to cars until May but you can walk around no problem. It was a bit muddy on some spots but for the most part the trail is pretty dry. It’s not a big walk, probably a km at most. It makes a nice change from walking around residential streets. In the summer there are tours at certain times and you can rent boats. There are bathrooms but we didn’t check if they were open...

Beautiful place but it is paid to visit and it is not cheap. I went with a friend and it was almost $20 to accessthe park. We weren't from L'Île-Perrot and it is more expensive for not local people. It worth a visit but be prepared to stay at least a couple of hours to compensate the money spent. There are public washrooms, picnic tables, trails and you can have your dog with you.

Nice clean park by the water has only a few picnic tables but plenty of open grass areas to put down a blanket and folding chairs for a picnic a game of Frisbee or even fly a kyte. Limited parking best to carpool when possible. It's a historic site with a mill and a little house to visit with people dressed in the costume of the period who explain what you see during your visit.
