Lovely, clean, and fun zoo with very thoughtful, involved staff!

Our favourite exhibits: They had a very cute Guinea pig village!! Cutely decorated above with cheery, colourful flags! My kids especially wanted to come just for this exhibit! This exhibit was my enduring memory from coming to this zoo as a child. They are located at the farthest end of the zoo. You will find them after you pass the bear and deer at the top of the hill. They have around 8-12 Guinea pigs. My kids second favourite was feeding the deer with corn!

Suggestions: Come when it is a cooler day and early morning so that the Guinea pigs aren't too sleepy. Bring hand sanitizer if you are planning on petting the deer.

Types of animals: Bears, wolves, lions, red kangaroo, camel, tigers, zebras, flamingos, unique ancient cow species that has a hump, porcupines, parrots, budgies, Guinea pigs ♥️, bunnies, goats (can hand feed them), monkeys, snakes, lemurs, deer, chickens, Guinea fowl, etc.

Duration: We were there for around 2.5 hours. We could have stayed for 3. It is the perfect sized zoo for kids and tweens. This zoo is bigger than Riverview Park and Zoo in Peterborough, but smaller than Toronto Zoo.

Other Exhibits that Others Loved: the grey talking parrot, and feeding the goats. Their food is purchased in their store.

Parking: Free and there is lots of it -little shade though.

Food/Drinks: Their gift shop has cold water, some other cold drinks, freezies, ice cream sandwiches, etc., but not full meals. It is around $1.50 per freezie or water bottle. $2.50 for ice cream sandwiches. There are picnic tables and benches everywhere for you to bring your own lunch though.

Gift shop: It has adorable zoo animal stuffies, purses, trinkets, etc.

Cleanliness: They maintain their grounds very nicely -almost no litter. Take a picture of the map on their site or of the one in their office because they aren't handing out maps to reduce litter. The attendees seem to care about keeping it nice too! ♥️

Staff: Lovely, thoughtful staff! I can't say enough good things about them! They are super happy to help and just thoughtful, great people that really care about their zoo and the attendees having a great experience!

Playground: They have a Little Tikes playground designed for little kids (babies to maybe age 7 or 8) with a sandpit. It has a slide. They also have a Jungle gym; see my pics for the Jungle gym.

Wheelchair: The whole park is wheelchair accessible. They have dirt paths covered with a small amount of very fine gravel but they are mostly dirt. They also have a ramp leading up to the washroom. See my pic.

Washrooms: Clean and cutely decorated with animals in the family washroom. My kids were thrilled with the Guinea pig decals! They have a change table in the family washroom. They also have a unisex bathroom as well. The washrooms are situated in the middle of the complex.

Admission: For one adult, one kid, and one tween ticket with taxes, it came to $41.

COVID: Masks are required inside buildings, but not outside. I saw very few people wearing masks outside. Inside the buildings they limit the number of people coming in. They have hand sanitizer...

A True Gem for Animal Lovers and Families Alike!

As the founder of Miss Dixie's Foundation, I can say with my whole heart (and a few happy tears) that Twin Valley Zoo is one of the most compassionate and well-run animal havens we've had the joy of visiting since 2014, to be exact!

The transformation in recent years under the care of Henny’s daughter Helena has been nothing short of incredible. From upgraded enclosures and lush, landscaped grounds to a genuinely clean zoo (seriously, it’s like the zookeepers have bionic garbage vision!), everything is done with love and attention to detail.

The animals are clearly the stars here and they’re treated like royalty. Our personal favorite is Kari the fox, now 11 and still running the place like she owns it. She gets enrichment, cuddles, treats, and probably a secret stash of gossip from her favorite zookeepers.

Shoutout to Colin for the jaw-dropping reptile habitats. It’s like walking into a wild jungle but with air conditioning and zero chance of being eaten.

And let’s talk about the staff: passionate, knowledgeable, and always smiling even when dealing with 6-year-olds hopped up on slushies. Haley, the head zookeeper, rolled out the red carpet for our Fierce & Fit special needs boxing group, giving them a VIP experience that left everyone grinning from ear to ear (even the snakes, probably).

Lots of shaded areas, seating for picnics, and on-site food make this a perfect day out for families, seniors, and anyone who needs to sit down after a long chat with the lemurs.

Twin Valley Zoo isn’t just a zoo, it’s a sanctuary, an education centre, and a living example of what happens when animals are loved like family. We’ll keep coming back as long as they’ll keep letting us in!

With gratitude (and a pocket full of Bosco & Roxy dog cookies for the senior wolves), 🐾 Miss...

This zoo is cute, on the smaller side which makes it great for little children. I have the access 2 go pass so the offer here was free caregiver admission. I debated between here, Killman zoo and African lion safari. Killman zoo also offers a free admission.

A few friends and I decided to come visit. The one friend and I both have this pass as both are children are disabled. The girl looked at me and said sorry you can't use that. I asked her why not? She told me we can't share the pass. However we weren't sharing the pass and I told her to look at the names on the cards, they are all on access cards. She was then snarky saying the owner doesn't want to give free access with this pass anymore so next year you'll get 25% off.

  1. I don't know why the girl would bother mentioning about next year.
  2. having a disabled child is hard so when you can't really make it through the whole zoo and have to leave abruptly it's great that you didn't have to fully pay for everyone
  3. please read the name on the cards, they all come with names on them. We couldn't have passed the pass back and forth anyways as they have already entered the zoo. I don't know how many times I had to ask Tara (the girl cashing us out) to look at the name on my card.
  4. I hope the owners rethinks the change, I like to visit a variety of places with my children, however I will always choose the cheaper option as most times I have to leave way sooner then we wanted.

I still gave this place 3 star, entertaining, cute animals, clean and makes a great Sunday afternoon. The 3 star is because of the attitude of the staff towards us, when we were just entering the establishment. I also find that when I come there is always an animal missing, this time it was the bears and last time the lions. I still would recommend to come, and I just hope you don't...
