We looked forward to visiting and partaking in the maple syrup festival, but found that it was disorganized and you only get a tiny pill-cup serving of maple syrup when you buy pancakes (our bill for a family of 4 was $36 for thin pancakes with dry, cold sausages). The drinks that were served with the thin pancakes were not good (coffee was flavorless, like drinking black hot water). A few of the staff serving the food were not wearing gloves or sanitary wear for food handlers. When it came to the activities, we had to pay to walk a short distance to the woods where volunteers were explaining maple syrup processes. That was it. I saw people not paying at all and just waking down with the group --- it was disorganized and not worth the entrance fee of almost $30. I thought it would be a stimulating experience, but it was just a walk to the woods. The volunteers in charge of talking to visitors were mostly chatting with other volunteers. There was nothing exciting being shown --- I would've liked to see actual sap being processed into syrup, for example. We were...
Read moreWe joined the maple syrup festival today, and the experience was great! The weather was fantastic. The place is quite nicely maintained. The trail is about 400m, leading you to see the house where maple syrup is made of. The house is at the left side of the end of the trail. And on the right, there were several interactive sections for kids to explore: two giant woodened connect 4, one giant pot, showing how people concentrated the syrup, and so on. There is also a washroom next to the pot and alcohol was provided just outside for hygiene purposes, which is nice. The trail is not a loop, so in order to go out, just follow the original path. On your way out, there are story boards telling the story of "Grandpa's Sugar Bush". It's very nicely...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I got there after driving for half an hour with my dog on the basis of the multiple answers saying you can bring dogs during the festival just to be told NO DOGS at the entrance. We got there and had no clue where to go with the admissions sign not pointing the right way. We then were told that they only accept debit or credit and not cash. WHAT?! Why wouldn’t you advertise that? So me and my girlfriend left and went to willowtree farms just down the road and we were immediately greeted with smiling faces (guess that’s why paid workers are always better then volunteers huh?) anyways go to willow tree if you want to a nicer atmosphere and good food. Also the sugar bush...
