Visited with my young grandaughter today. What a gem this pioneer village is. All the buildings were staffed with folks in period clothes who provided the history of the structures. A small period children's playground complete with wooden swings, teeter totters and log fort with a climbing ladder was a hit with kids. There are multiple large barns with many types of 1800s machinery from washing machines to thrash machines. For those who enjoy old equipment Lang is a goldmine. Be sure to visit the building housing the looms which contains a very rare operating loom run on punch cards. The General Store holds many interesting artifacts as well along with lollipops for kids. The Church has period pews along with a pedal organ. And ensure to visit the Grist Mill which operates on special occasions. As well there is a farm with sheep for the kids. Many shaded picnic tables are also available on the site to have a picnic. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will...
Read moreGreat time for the most part, aside from the school. I understand that the people stay in character, but the “teacher” was kinda a jerk. I went with a school as a volunteer, so I had my group of three and I had them sit in the last few seats available. Another group started to come in and the guy started getting angry, then asked whoever has been there already to leave, and anyone who was sitting already and heard the presentation to leave. I motioned for my guys to stay in there seat and he looked at one of the kids and said “leave”. I started to say we literally just got here and again he looked at the kids I had and just pointed and said “leave”. Everyone else was great, aside from this guy who wouldn’t even listen and was just rude. In all we saw everything and it was great, but can’t say anything about the school since we got to see inside for...
Read moreWe came to see the village for the first time all the way from GTA at around 2:05 pm. On the website, there was an announcement that today it is open until 4:00 pm. No information about attendance allowed only with the tour. Just in front of us, one family started the last tour and we were not allowed to join it! So the information was misleading. We wasted our Sunday for Nothing! The big disappointment of such bad customer service.
This is the first time I have met such unfriendly museum workers in Ontario.
Now a museum employee will come here and talk about care. Aha! My family just lost their care. COVID will end someday
PS No need to tell that the tour was full. Especially when you talk about a large area of the park (25 acres). There were three cars in the parking lot. This is a maximum of 12 people. You just didn't want to do something for us as...
