Firstly parking is $3. All paths are very well maintained and sign posted. There are 4 walking trails as well as the causeway. The first is blue the old voyager trail it contains 4 look outs and is easy to maneuver not alot of logs and stones. The next is the white the miners trail it is a little more difficult but connected to the blue and has the best lookouts. The causeway connects you to the Yellow and Orange trails both these trails are for advanced hikers only there is alot of up and down rocky rooty pathways but the views are worth it. Bring good shoes as well it can get a little muddy. I would highly recommend this conversation area if you like...

One of my favourite parks within 60 minutes of downtown Ottawa. Morris Island includes a long causeway which bisects a shallow bay, offering fantastic walking paths and access to excellent fishing for many species. There's abundant wildlife, and the kids can see lots of snakes, frogs/toads, turtles, etc. Most of the park is forested, so there is a ton of shade on a hot day. There is no set day fee, but donations are accepted at the entrance. Has washrooms, a few picnic tables. One caution if planning to canoe/kayak or if you are bringing small children ... there can be strong, sudden shifts in water currents due to a nearby hydro dam....

Great hiking trails and perfect for kayaking or canoeing around. The suggested put in is a bit far from the pay-parking lot, and the water is a bit muddy and weedy there, but there are two good places to put your boat in just off the parking lot (ignore the sign).

I've attached two images: one, a route I paddled from Morris Island to Baie Black, and back; a sped-up video of the paddle from the mouth of Baie Black back to Morris Island.

Not only is the paddling good at the conservation area but there are some great places to explore directly across the river, in Baie Black. Depending on the time of year and river conditions,...

A wonderful conservation area on the Ottawa River just above the Chats Falls and West of Fitzroy Harbour. Rocky, hilly hike with several islands connected by bridges and great views of the rivers, Chats Falls Dam, and river vistas. There are flush toilets available at the parking lot (seasonal) and porta potties in the rest of the year. A couple of picnic spots available and some protected kayak/canoeing. A great place to hike and explore. Parking ($6 in Jul.2021) contributes to maintenance of the area. Highly recommended!
