We had a great time dog sledding at Escapade Eskimo! We went on the half-day adventure. We showed up and were given any extra winter clothes that we needed. I don't know how much of each item they have, so dress warmly on your own, but they do have boots, snow pants, coats, and mittens available. Once you're all bundled up, you are driven to the nearby trail, where you help to clip your 7 dogs into position on the sled. You then ride about 7-8k, loop around (option to switch who is the driver and who is the passenger) and then ride back. Once you're back there's tea/coffee/hot chocolate and snacks. We were there about 3.5 hours, and I think we were sledding for about 1.5 hours (approximately). They are knowledgeable and friendly, and the dogs are well-behaved, well looked after, and super lovely. They also have their own (delicious) jams and maple syrup products available to purchase, and a sugar shack in the spring. You can also do an overnight activity, where you do the above on one afternoon, stay at their lodge/BnB overnight, and then do a different trail of a similar length the next day. We would 100% recommend Escapade Eskimo!
For information purposes for others looking to book: They book up pretty quickly, so I'd recommend calling to schedule at least a month in advance You pay in cash They use Huskies, and train them for steadily pulling weight. This means that the focus is on muscle strength instead of speed. The dogs do move quickly, but it's not the "mush, mush" dog sled racing you see in the movies. Apparently dog sled racing uses a completely different breed of dog! This isn't a negative, as the dogs move at a good pace and the trail is very nice - just to help people know...
Read moreWe had an absolutely incredible experience at Escapade Huskimo! If we could, we'd come here every dayâit was that much fun!
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by kind and professional staff who made the experience smooth and enjoyable. The dogs are friendly, well-trained, and clearly well cared forâthey looked happy, healthy, and well-fed, living in a beautiful, peaceful habitat.
We did the 15 km trail, which was the perfect mix of adventure and scenery. One of the best parts? You actually get to drive the sled yourself! Thereâs a passenger in the sled, but each person also gets a turn mushing the sled, making it a hands-on, exciting experience.
Our guide, Sylvain, was informative and professional, adding to the overall enjoyment. It was a great March Break activity, and our group had a wide range of agesâfrom kids (8 and 11) to my 71-year-old mom. This experience is truly suitable for all ages and skill levels!
Tip: Dress warmly, especially your feet!
Overall, Escapade Huskimo is a must-visit for anyone looking for a unique, exciting, and immersive winter adventure. The stunning trails, happy dogs, and expert guidance make this an unforgettable experience.
