We visited here during the Light up the Vines event. Immediately after getting out of our car we were greeted by a saxon man yelling for all to come and see the firing of the trebuchet. Intrugued we followed, noticing that he was dressed in a leather tunic with steel plates riveted on and a small leather hemlet. A small walk to a large field brought us to his 1/6 scale trebuchet where helpers were preparing the ammunition that was to be fired.

With much pomp, fanfare, declarations of the war against squash, and a very thorough safety check, the weapon was fired. The weights dropped, the squash was flung through its arc where is exploded upon release. Glow sticks and chucks of squash flying out into the field. A very fun and well timed arrival indeed.
