We booked Painted Rock as our Venue for our wedding and couldn't be happier with the way things turned out! Book early though - we booked as soon as the window opened up and it was full for the month a few hours later.
Lora, our event coordinator, was friendly and professional and helped make our planning process as smooth as possible. In particular, she made accommodations for a traditional tea ceremony, and staged a beautiful area for us to do this. On the day of, the entire team was wonderful, professional, and accommodating. No hiccups at all! We even got a little ATV ride to the vineyards for some great photos on the bluffs.
The setting is modern, but can be wonderfully paired with a more rustic decor if you chose. Everything from the bar area to the outside tents are absolutely top notch - we found there to be a perfect amount of inside/outside/covered areas where you can get reprieve from the sun, heat, and (heaven forbid) rain.
One consideration to make is that there is a limited amount of washrooms - there is one single occupancy bathroom for the men, and two stalls inside the ladies. If you are maximizing the capacity, it may be worth considering bringing in portables.
But back to the setting... the colours you get as the sun sets throughout the night is just BREATHTAKING! And of course the wine is pretty good here too! Their Chardonnay is a favourite of ours, and the reds are absolutely gorgeous!
Highly recommend, and we would definitely book again for an event. Thanks...
Read moreWe saved this winery for last. My friends on this trip had nothing but great things to say about their last experience here. However, that was not the case this time around.
I can appreciate that it was busy when we arrived. But the service was absolutely terrible, and by service I mean lack thereof. When we finally were able to get a spot for the tasting, the guy behind the counter completely ignored us. He was right in front of us and did not even acknowledge our existence. He was unpacking boxes of wine, cleaning up, not even a "hey guys I'll be right with you". Then he goes to the party next to us (who were already being helped by another woman) and starts asking them how they enjoy the wine! It was beyond rude.
I have worked in the service industry for many years, I would never let a person walk into my bar (no matter how busy I am) and not acknowledge them and let them know I will be right with them. Needless to say, we did not stay and have a tasting. It was bizarre!
And not that it matters, but we were all dressed well, we're all in our mid 30's and we were not in any way intoxicated being loud and obnoxious.
I would have gave this experience 0...
Read more4 and a half stars. This Winery is super modern, very polished. Their picnic sandwiches were quite nice, the cheese was awesome, and my favourite sandwich was the turkey avocado. My girlfriend got the chicken sandwich and there was too much cinnamon apple in it for my taste, borderline felt like I was eating an apple pie in some bites. If that's your thing it's still not bad it had some nice blue cheese in there but the turkey one was not dry and quite nice in my opinion.. Also this place only has red wines and my girlfriend prefers more sweet and fruity wines so I just took over the tasting for two haha. They had 1 type of local IPA as well That they don't advertise online or on a menu and also a cider in case if you end up wanting something other than wine. I personally preferred the 2015 Merlot and the 2016 Red Icon. They had more of a deep dark chocolatey smooth feel. The 2016 Merlot and the Syrah were both more acidic feeling and fruity. However many people I know actually find the Syrah to be their favourite so maybe it just didn't meet my expectations. Would definitely come back again....
