As an "entitled American" I did not have the best experience at this winery. The woman (who I am assuming was the owner) told me and my husband that we were "entitled Americans'' because we did not stop at the exchange when we crossed the USA/Canadian border and did not have Canadian cash on hand - even though they took credit cards. We don't usually carry cash and did not think it would be a problem to not have Canadian cash seeing as Canada is just as developed as the USA and everyone takes credit cards these days. As we were leaving, a different woman told us to have a great day and we said thank you. Immediately, I hear the same woman who called us “entitled” whip around and tell the worker, “THEY aren't from here.” What does it matter that we aren't from Canada? We were paying customers exploring another country. They should be grateful to have ANY customers. It was painful to be treated this way at an establishment we were expecting to have fun at. It was our first stop in Canada and it really put a damper on the rest of our trip. The entrance into the tasting room smelled like cat poop. We LOVE cats. We don't love the smell of cat poop mixed with our wine.. Every wine is DRY. If you like even semi-sweet wines, there will not be anything here to enjoy. There was no parking and it was very difficult to get out of the parking lot. I hope the woman who was so offended by us “Entitled Americans” learns what it means to be kind and appreciative to ALL of her customers. If you're an American looking for a good time, I would skip this winery and go to Shale Ridge Estate Winery and Cidery instead. You will actually feel welcomed there and they have a nice, clean atmosphere in more ways than one. We spent the rest of the day there with our entitled, American credit cards :)

Just picked up my order at the Brights Grove market! Alton farms is an intimate winery whose quiet charm and peaceful atmospheres will make you want to go back over and over again. ‘Family owned and operated’ means you will get to meet and chat with the awesome owners Mark and Anne, as they work hard along their friendly staff. Alton Farms has a beautiful outdoor tasting lounge, and a lovely outdoor seating area where on Wednesdays, you’ll enjoy live music and delicious wood fired pizzas! They also offer free local delivery. They sure make it easy to want to support local!

I have never enjoyed a winery more. Most wines are less than 3g of sugar and all wines are made on-site. They have a large patio, yard games & trails onsite. The property was beautiful and our server Karina was very knowledgeable in all the wines she served us, we were very impressed with the service she provided. We bought the un-oaked chardoney and the Pinot noir. Also pictured is a seltzer you can have on a patio, which was absolutely delicious. Next time I am in the area I will visit this winery. Also the dogs on-site are unbelievably friendly

Marc and Anne are two absolutely wonderful people! I had selected their winery to supply our wedding wine as they were local and just a few minutes from our initial venue. We had over a year postponement and even a very last minute venue change due to covid (4 weeks out) and Alton Farms accommodated every change perfectly. They provided great selections and helped us pair with our food options, gave us complimentary delivery (despite us changing the location last minute on them) and bulk pricing. They offered us and my parents free tastings to try all of their wines (they actually opened whichever bottle we requested) - they did this not once, but TWICE because by the time our wedding could happen it was 18 months past our first tastings and they had new wines to offer. They even went above and beyond and offered their winery as a last minute venue option for our wedding/guests.

We cannot say enough good things about these two people and their winery. They are down to earth, very kind and genuine people that provided wonderful service, wonderful wine and were such a delight to work with. We wish we lived closer but we try to support whenever we can. I would highly recommend heading out to try this...

What an absolute pleasure stopping at this winery this past Saturday. While the weather was cold, the hospitality was warm. After picking out our wines inside, we were directed outside where they have two propane heaters and a fire pit. None of them were lit at the time and as it was chilly, I asked if it was OK that I start a fire and they were very gracious and allowed us to do it.

We were able to taste three wines each. The highlights for us were the Oaked Chardonnay, the Cabernet Sauvignon and their Ice Wine. All their wines are reasonably priced and good Sun-Thurs wines for your cellar over the holidays.

Their gift shop is filled with some amazing items from all over the area and abroad. Take the time to look around and pick up some neat stocking stuffers, high end decanters, or some other treasure.

The staff and owners were absolutely lovely, and made our 'cold and chilly' day into a very warm hour by the fire during sunset. We even got to see their beautiful dogs for the last 15 minutes of our visit.

Be sure to stop by, set aside an hour if the temp is nice to enjoy the view, and soak up their incredible hospitality. We can't...
