A must-see in the Eastern Shore. This community-leaded lighthouse is a true gem for visiting. We fell in love with the attention, the story about how the local community restored the buildings, the diaries of old lighthouse's keepers, the displays with information of this and other lighthouses, in sum: a wonderful experience. And if you like beaches, there is a trail (also maintained by the community) that conducts to a great beach!! What more do you want to desire for a single place?? Important: The community requests an entrance fee of $5 per person or $15 as a family for the whole season. This is a really few for all the information, emotions, and care that you will receive. Then. If you are a grateful person, don't miss to buy some of the amazing souvenirs made by local artisans; another way of expressing gratitude to all the people behind this cultural heritage.

Oh wow! The natural scenery here is just amazing. The lady and the young gentleman at the interpretative center were very informative of the lighthouse history and gave us a nice sample sound blast of the fog horn 😬. The rocky route to the far end of the trail is quite a challenge and not recommended for someone who is not so nimble. But if you do manage to get there, it's worth the trek just to see the beautiful vista.

Went in February so the lighthouse and interpretive center were not open. The trails around the lighthouse and to the beach are nice, flat and fairly short (only a few kilometers if you do them all including the loops). The trails need a bit of maintenance but this is most likely related to being off season. The Beach is all rocks no sand but great to watch the ocean waves roll into.

Beautiful lighthouses and interpretive centre in Port Bickerton! Incredibly easy to access. Volunteers at the interpretive centre were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their lighthouse. Full tour inside, including a climb to the top of the light tower. The other lighthouse on the property is the currently active light, operated by the coast guard and inaccessible. There is a room that can be rented by the week, and clean bathrooms. Plenty of walking trails and a beautiful sandy beach. Inside, information on all of Nova Scotia's lighthouses, and a lovely gift shop featuring local artisans, including work from the artist in residence, who spends two weeks living on the property. Homemade fudge and refreshments also...

Spectacular views throughout, with some caveats. The narrow, difficult, gravel road up to the site is worth the white knuckled ride (make sure your vehicle's shocks are up for it). It would have been helpful to know that no staff would be there, nor were any buildings open, despite the website showing otherwise. The extremely steep drop-off would pose an immense danger to children, so I won't recommend it for kids. Bring your camera, and you'll capture...
