Hunting Area with Permit *some locals do harass hunters. Be aware, stay calm, call ministry* Humberstone is a fairly easy area to navigate if you're properly dressed for it. Think Ticks, there's lot's so if you go off trail or like to bushwhack expect a few when the season fits. It is a marsh so wear boots. The area is not maintained for hikers, with only game trails and hunter pathways to deer stands or feed spots. The entire conservation is divided by a manmade drainage ravine that you can see us walking in the start and end of this video. It splits the area into two very different sections that we found ourselves going back and forth between the two. Both sections have their merits. Tons of deer on either side. I only caught the two on video but over the entire time we ended up bumping 8 or so in the bush easily. All in all, it's a nice area that we're lucky to still have in the Niagara region. The forest has a rich biotic mixture consisting of both deciduous and coniferous trees, different types of underbrush as well as a wide variety of mushrooms such as Lions Mane, Cordyceps, Chicken of the woods and Oyster. (Just some of the edible ones we found) It has a rich squirrel population, with turkey popping through from surrounding farmlands. Deer is #1 here 100%, I lost count of the number of blinds and stands we came across so be aware and respectful. The forest also has a few spots setup for pushing rabbits with a group when the vegetation is gone. (Seen a few rabbits) We also flushed a few birds. (Doves, Pheasants, Woodcocks)
