I absolutely loved this trail. I had no idea it existed. We hiked it in early March.. so lots of ice and you really had to be careful with your footing. It was challenging... lots of up and downs. We only did the first loop, which took us about 3 hours, but i think it could be faster during the summer without all the ice. I can't wait to do this trail again and hike further into some of the lakes.

Tried both north part and south part trail from which I prefer the south loop better. The crowbar trail is well maintained with varied natural resources and lakes. The otter lake entrance is more difficult to be found and you need to drive to the very end of the river Dr to walk a bit. Some areas are with steep uphill but if you are an experienced hiker, should be fully ok.

Beautiful hiking trail. If you are looking for real wilderness experience then this is right place for you. Good for cardiovascular strengthening 😄. Make sure you well prepared before you start hiking. Bring water, food because it can be very exhausting specially during summer days. Not good for children.

One of the more challenging hikes close to Halifax with consistent up and downs. The views are not as frequent or sweeping as something like the Bluff trail, but it is a nice trail with a few nice lookouts and nice lakes once you get to Granite lake.

The Granite lake hike is mostly out and back and is around 8 km total. There is a nice spot to sit next to the lake and a fire pit out there. Once you get there, you can add on a loop around west lake (adds roughly 5 km), or the larger loop around...

A great trail! There are some great views, and there is a bench to rest at partway through, with a view of the lake. The smaller trail has a nice loop-around route that one can take, or one can continue further in, if looking to take a longer hike. There are some parts on both trails that can be a steep climb, and I would recommend hiking boots or some other non-slip and waterproof boots. All in all,...
