I like the Antique Market but what I didn't like is that to go there you have to pay to get in. So basically the way I see it, they make you pay to get on to the grounds to walk around look and see if you want to buy anything from any of the vendors that have booths there. I'm from Hamilton, Ontario so sometimes when I'm looking to buy something I go to one of the shopping malls or Super Centres to go shopping and I'm NOT made to pay an entrance fee to go shopping at Limeridge Mall or Eastgate Mall. I can go there park my car in the parking lot for free and enter the Mall for FREE and walk around from store to store looking to see if there is anything that I want to buy from any of the shops in there. The shop owners and stall vendor pay rent to the Mall so of course I don't have to pay the Mall to enter. I'm sure the vendors at the Aberfoyle Antique Market also pay rent or some kind of a fee to have or set up there stall in there so why am I a prospective buyer of one of those vendors made to pay a fee for the privilege of walking around the grounds to look at the vendors wears?!!! :( I don't agree with this concept at all!!!...
Read moreGreat place to spend a day (or half a day) browsing primarily outdoor vendors. A big mix of garage sale, vintage and true antiques. Lots of garden decor, furniture, jewelry, old tools, salvage, smalls and everything in-between. we went for 3 hours and didn't see everything!
Prices seemed great overall. Vendors choose their own pricing so you will probably be able to haggle a bit too, especially if you are buying multiple items.
There is a small restaurant (cafeteria style) that serves breakfast items until 11:30 and then serves lunch (burgers, sandwiches, wraps and French fries - that sort of thing). There is also a small cafe and an outdoor food vendor with pulled pork and more. Plenty of outdoor seating and some indoor as well. Oh, there is an icecream vendor and a lemonade vendor in other areas too - great for a break on a hot day!
Bring sunscreen on sunny days!
I look forward to revisiting the Aberfoyle Antique Market.
(And if that place isn't enough - not far away is the Freelton Antique Market which is open 2 hours later, and is indoors...
Read moreCome on you have to have only great things to say about the AAM. it's now become an annual trek. Vendors are all wonderful- except for the one grumpy one that is on the outside corner facing the parking lot-miserable and wont entertain offers let alone engage with customer interaction. But the rest are good. Nostalgic 80 and 90s on inside corner is WAY over priced but can talk a good talk. The guy in the opposite corner almost near the start with the table upon table if metal works and nuts and bolts and car parts and tools needs to learn how to negotiate a specially when you can review a picture you took 3 years ago and the exact same thing is sitting in the exact same box and he still won't give you a deal. We can spend a good for 5 hours here if we rushed otherwise it could be an all day thing. Not exactly sure why you have to pay for parking considering the land owners must make money off the vendors but all in all we don't mind. Make sure if it's hot outside to walk around...
