Abenaki Museum — Attraction in Quebec

Wonderful museum in a beautiful building in a magnificent place near the river. The collection is fantastic. IT is the way it is presented and displayed that make it particularly special. It guides a reflection about First Nations and their present. The second floor is not to be missed. The presentation of the residential schools history is excellent and allows us to understand the extent of the abuse perpetrated, recovering at the same time the voices of those who sounded the alarm throughout the years. We went to this museum on August 22nd 2020, the staff is very nice, the boutique has a lot of gifts to choose from, and the displays are very colorful and interesting. You can go to the 4th floor and experience a great view on the terasse. They have all the good health measures to prevent...

Une magnifique découverte ! Je suis allée visiter le musée des Abénakis avec mon conjoint, et ce fut une expérience enrichissante. Passionnée de culture, de langue et d’histoire, j’ai été comblée ! Le musée est superbe, tout comme les sentiers extérieurs qui l’entourent.

J’ai particulièrement apprécié La boîte à parole, un espace interactif où l’on peut apprendre quelques mots en abénaki — une belle façon de s’immerger dans cette langue malheureusement presque disparue.

Je suis ravie d’avoir approfondi mes connaissances sur ce peuple généreux et talentueux.

Petit conseil : prévoyez d’y passer la journée. Vous pourrez explorer une maison traditionnelle abénakise, vous détendre en parcourant les sentiers, admirer la vue, puis visiter le musée, regarder les films, découvrir l’artisanat local et faire un tour à la boutique souvenir.

Je ne regrette absolument pas ma visite....
