River Bend Golf & Recreation Area — Attraction in Red Deer

We had our wedding at River Bend Golf & Recreation Area on Sept 14, 2024 and it was absolutely amazing. Chef Ryan was a pleasure to work with right from the start. From setting up a time to view the venue and discuss the service options it was relaxed with no pressure and a very enjoyable experience. Chef Ryan and his team worked so hard and gave us the best experience ever. We had the best service and was the most affordable venue I found during wedding planning. Even with the incredible cost, there wasn't a single area of the venue or service that slacked.

We had an outdoor ceremony there and it offered so many options for photos as well. We did need to set up the ceremony space and take down the same day which made it very easy to keep our ceremony simple and utilize the river views to our advantage.

The reception space was excellent with great ventilation (we had no one complain about being to hot or cold) and the perfect size of space. The dance floor is set up nicely at the back of the room, and there are beautiful lights set up throughout the space. We had a plated dinner service with multiple options guests selected beforehand. They accommodated our guests with allergies while still giving them the same meal options that tasted fantastic. So many of our guests have commented to us how amazing the food was and the service from the girls working the bar and checking on tables. Tables were always checked on and cleared, water was always available. We opted for a poutine bar for a midnight snack at Chef Ryans' recommendation and I have honestly never had better fries or poutine options.

We were able to set up the evening before as no other event was taking place and it didn't cost us extra and was a great opportunity for our family/friends to connect and eat the delicious various pizzas we had arranged for.

The whole facility is amazing! Fantastic driving range with a medium sized bucket of balls included in the fees along with a pull cart included for your round. Excellent practice putting/pitching area. An incredible 9 hole mini links to sharpen your short game and/or have a fun outing with your kids to experience golf! As for the actual golf course, it was visually beautiful and quite enjoyable to walk. Surprisingly the difficulty of play was alot easier than I expected due to wide fairways and large greens but this was a pleasant surprise. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating was due to the pressure put on us almost immediately by the management about pace of play and for us to play quicker. We were put together with another twosome without being told and all of us were slower than average golfers. Only 2 or 3 holes in to our 18 hole round and we were confronted by management asking us to speed up. It was my twosomes first time playing this course so that made the round slightly less enjoyable with the pressure to hurry all the time. Management came out once more on the back nine to pressure us again so that part of the experience was disappointing. We used the ceremony site yesterday for our wedding, unfortunately it was a bit of a headache from start to finish. When booking- it took about 5 solid days to finalize details because calls weren't answered and emails only answered once a day. Yesterday, yes everything was clean and kept - we were told that the site was going to be roped off and displayed that it was being used for a private function, the only thing stating that there was a private function was one sandwich board sign at the entrance before the boat launch. So, when I showed up as the bride, there is an employee on a lawn mower, and some random person attempting to have a picnic with his dogs because there were no signs.
