This place needs to be fully fenced especially during the winter… i took my dog out for a walk not knowing I was going to be walking back to my vehicle with an empty leash. My girl who had excellent recall found a crack in the river that I couldn’t see behind the trees and I tried to call her so that I could see her and make sure she was with me. When I finally could see where it was open and see where she was, she was very close to the crack in the river. I tried calling her back in a panic. Her main goal was to grab and drink and come right back. she ended up falling through the crack and got sucked under and there wasn’t a place for her to resurface. I have never been more devastated in my life. After waiting for help to arrive. I noticed about 10 dogs during this time trying to go down to the river to where the crack was and I stopped them knowing the outcome.

Please fence your trail to make it safe for our fur babies. So that no one has to go through the same pain I have to...

Best Dog Park I have ever been to. Generally, only friendly Dogs mingle there and hardly any (Dog-startling) Bicycles. There is a couple of beautiful wooded areas featuring a memorial for deceased Dogs and plenty of little trails with jumps and ravines all comfortable for all ages walking with their dog(s). There is a rocky beach with a shallow section of River for "swimming" Dogs to play fetch, a sand beach with open area for dogs to chase each other and probably a dozen little ponds scattered throughout. You can find a thousand different ways to navigate a round keeping your Dog interested. This Park truly is a sanctuary for Dogs and their Best friends. Please pick up after your Dogs, baggies are provided in most parking areas or throughout the park. Also, keep in mind, there are Moose, Beavers and blue Algae in the Ponds as your most common inconveniences or Hazards in this Park, be diligent and mind your Dog for a...

I love love this place, however I am surprised at how many people don't clean up after their pup has pooped!!! Even in the cold weather/snow we are having/had the main play field was just like a toilet for dogs. The paths are clear but along the sides, yet again just piles of poop. There are poop bags provided people if you have forgotten yours. Here's an idea, grab one or two before you get going on the trail. Also, some owners seem to feel that just letting their pooch off leash means a total free range, out of sight out of mind mentality. These dogs are lovely but I honestly don't like being put in a position where a dog jumps at me, I can't see the owner, or that their dog is just a bother. Not all the dogs at the park have...

This place is basically an off-leash dog parks so be prepared to see a lot of canine critters (some of them can be too friendly). The trail is surrounded by a couple of ponds and is very close to the Red Deer river. We saw a few people canoeing in the ponds and quite a few pups were enjoying a dip in the water. No beavers, moose or other wildlife was seen (probably because of the noise from dogs and people). There are skunks here however, so one ought to be cautious about that specially with their pets chasing them. There are quite a few benches and outhouse-type washrooms, so it can be a nice place for a picnic.

I love this off-leash dog park. If you enjoy strolling along the river at 6am, it is safe, beautiful and you’ll most likely get lucky and see some sort of wildlife. From beavers to osprey to foxes and moose! But make sure your puppy’s well behaved or keep them on a leash! If you prefer the busy times, there’s lots of people down there on sunny days. Picnic benches and washrooms and all. And of course, lots of other doggy friends for your little one. I love this dog park because you can almost feel like you’ve left town and found a little oasis away from the busy city streets. Hope you enjoy!
