Great little ocean beach to visit and walk if you're in the area. Best time to go is at low tide as the beach is huge then and you can find some live hermit crabs. And if you're lucky like my wife and I you might even find a sand dollar! (A "test" to be more accurate, which means it's only the shell so you can collect it). Not much to beachcomb here compared to other beaches. But still a nice beach to go for a walk and enjoy the ocean breeze and air. Travel tip - there's not a lot of parking (5-6 spots) and while the signs say private property as you turn off the main road onto the gravel road, it only refers to the section of street past the parking lot that's roped off for the residents. We had no issue finding a spot though getting down and back up to the beach is not easy. And as others pointed out there's no bathrooms and it's a bit of a drive before you can find a restaurant or gas station that you can use.

One of our favourites. Calm waters, not very busy. Great for kids as the water is shallow, clear and warm as it washes over the sand that’s been warmed by the sun at low tide. If you go at high tide you need to wade through water to get to the sandbank, but it’s all part of the fun! Watch the seabirds run along the sandbar…

What a spot. Nice light sand, clear shallow water right in the mouth of the inlet to the ocean. The second best part is the drive here from Lunenburg as it's right on the water. Warning not much parking, if you have a ride get dropped off or go in the evening. We found sand dollars so it lived up to it's name

Beautiful location!

The drive to the beach is lovely and scenic, what you would expect a beautiful ocean drive to be!

The road leading to the parking area is one way, and the parking area is small. there are waste bins and stairs to get to the beach. I didn't see a wheelchair or accessable ramp. So if you need mobility aids, even if you have something that would work on sand, you're limited in your ability to reach the beach.

Aside from that, we timed our arrival for low tide, and we weren't disappointed! We had a great walk, saw some crabs, snakes, clams and jelly fish, but no sand dollars, I believe it's too early in the season to see many.

The water was the perfect temperature, and was so warm in the little pools and when it came up on the warm sand.

The community and beachgoers have been excellent, and we didn't find any trash or personal items on the beach or in the...

My daughter found a sand dollar so it lived up to it’s name! Shallow warmer water in various spots when tide is out which is especially nice for little kids.

Downsides: only about 6 parking spaces near the beach. Parking on the road wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t on a bend on the main road and there was more shoulder room. And NO public washrooms anywhere close so that was a huge negative for me. The drive is not the most pleasant from HRM area. Bring a tarp to put on the ground so you keep your towels and blankets from getting damp as there is no dry sand...
