Although the site I was in was very large compared to others I have been in, the scenery and trails were beautiful I was disappointed by an experience I had in regards to the shower/ bathroom facilities and contemplate if I would return.
Showers were scalding hot, I couldn’t do more than just splash myself with the water. Way too hot.
Bathrooms were individual rooms which was nice but some had no locks on them therefore could not be used. As someone who camps using a tent and not a trailer I rely on these facilities to wash, dress brush my teeth and get myself ready for the day; while using them one morning cleaners came through, tried the handle three times and knowing it was clearly in use knocked on the door and announced “house cleaning” forcing me to leave before finishing. This was extremely unnecessary and bothering. I understand needing to clean but when these facilities are in use, be flexible and return at a later time to clean. If you are unable to be flexible with your cleaning schedule, post times so people will make sure not to be using them...
Read moreThe Steep Rock Beach Park is a separate entity (either a privately run campground or an operation of the RM) and a distance away (about 4.5km) from the actual town of Steep Rock. ||||The listed activities on the Steep Rock Beach Park website of: the Little Steep Rock Trail (ATV & walking), quarry, and the cliffs of Steep Rock are actually found in the community of Steep Rock itself. Town of Steep Rock also offers its own beach, marina, canoe/kayak rentals. So if your going for the day to visit the cliffs, quarry or walk/drive the trails don't waste your time and money for entry here (like we did), as its not where you want to be. You need to go to the community of Steep Rock itself.||||In fairness this business offers accommodations for campers (overnight & seasonal) with varying levels of amenities and cabin rentals. It has its own beach, marina (no rentals listed), store, and cafe. You can visit for the day to enjoy their own offerings, but don't if your going for the cliffs,...
Read moreGreat beach, good staff, and lots to do with the kids. However I am disappointed in how steep rock has gone the way of most other campsite and are just cramming everyone in that they can in every little space possible. I haven't been here in about 7 years but before that, we used to rent the cabin and enjoy the spacious grounds, you could walk the creek to the beach. This time we rented the cabin, and every little section in the campground was seasonal sites or daily rentals. They even rented half the driveway of the cabin to a camper, so I had to 10 point maneuver to get my car out when wanting to go explore the town. I would recommend a visit to steep rock and steep rock campground to everyone as it is a beautiful place. However, I would not recommend staying at the cabin anymore, its more than doubled in price which I get as everything has, but you just get...
