If I could rate this a 0 star I honestly would. For starters, the tour was EXTREMELY expensive for how poorly ran and boring it was. Our whole group was bored, not one time was there really anything that actually had to do with ghosts, instead all they had was a few people in black clothing walking around that you could see slamming a few things around. Our tour guide was very monotone and not very into the supposed “stories” they were telling, she also wouldn’t explain things well so everyone was lost in most of the buildings and even going to places they weren’t supposed to. A bunch of the buildings they had were not even open. At the end of the “ghost tour” they had a tavern with a few seats which was honestly the best part of the whole thing. Upon leaving, we realized there was no one around to direct you where to go nor was there even a light to show you where to go. We ended up having to cut through the forest to get to our car to leave as we couldn’t walk through the building due to it being locked, all the employees had left as well. All in all I would NOT recommend attending and paying 45$ a person. Compared to what lower Fort Gary used to be around Halloween, this was a real...

My family and I had a wonderful day here! We participated in the blacksmithing and bannock making activities and the instructors were so friendly and knowledgeable. We got to use a hammer and an anvil to create something from soft metal and stamp a medallion! The bannock is made in a cast iron pan over coals. It tasted so good with butter and jam. There are lots of things to see and do. My kids also liked playing croquet, touching the furs, and playing roles. They also just enjoyed running in the open grass which is well maintained. My eldest did the 'scavenger hunt' in the explorer booklet and at the end of the visit, went to the treasure chest to enter the code he deciphered and got a prize! He was so happy. I had many memories going to LFG as a kid (field trips and family outings) and I hope my kids have good...

Went here yesterday with a group of my school kids. Super fun and informational. Why I put 3 stars is because I was served 2 raw chicken fingers and had eaten the cooked ones on top (to my knowledge) the server was very apologetic and I knew it wasn’t her fault but was only offered a slice of watermelon, and 2 pastries. I took them because I felt very uncomfortable with this situation. I went back and asked for a refund but she told me no refund was available as I had already ate the other portion of my food. So I asked for half of a refund which was 8 dollars. The cook (I think?) came out and refunded me and was also very apologetic which was appreciated. I just think the initial me bringing my raw piece of chicken that I had bitten would have been a full refund? Was a very weird and uncomfortable encounter....

Lower Fort Garry is truly a hidden gem just outside of Winnipeg. The site is beautifully preserved, and the historical significance of the fort is brought to life by the knowledgeable and friendly staff. The costumed interpreters are fantastic, offering interactive demonstrations that make you feel like you’ve stepped back into the 19th century. The grounds are stunning, with scenic views along the Red River and well-maintained trails perfect for a peaceful walk. Whether you’re interested in history, enjoy exploring historic buildings, or simply want a unique day trip, Lower Fort Garry has something for everyone. It’s a perfect spot for families, history buffs, and anyone looking to learn more about Canada’s past. Highly recommend visiting this incredible historic site!
