La Pulperie de Chicoutimi - Regional Museum — Attraction in Saguenay

Have to say that they have a bit of a ways to go when it comes to general customer relations. The failure to clear the snow made it nearly impossible to enter the museum and when we did find a door. We were somewhat intercepted by a woman who said no fewer than four times that we must pay. Of course we must pay. Not a good start to the experience.

The signage leading to the parking is not clear. The large wooden staircase is not clear if snow.

We entered through the Ombudsman office upstairs. Took the elevator to the lower floor.

Then, were met officiously by the woman who was fixated on the fee.

We left. But, we were not able to climb the stairs to our car so I reentered the building but the elevator...

La Pulperie de Chicoutimi is a gem in Canada/Quebec's history. What an amazing story of ingenuity, brutally hard work, risk (physically and financially), justice/injustice (on the part of the efforts of the Catholic Church on behalf of the labor force), technology and "development"! This is a story which should be taught in the public schools of Canada. There is so much to learn here! I would strongly encourage that the indigenous story of short lived effort be included since I felt it was given...

L'histoire et les pièces exposés sont très intéressantes, par contre pour la visite du site extérieure, il y a quelques éléments à ajouter qui rendrait la visite plus complète.

Dehors, aucune indication, explication n'est mentionné. Tout ceux présents à divers moments que nous avons croisés, sont allé en haut de la côte (quand nous commençons le site extérieur) alors qu'il n'y a rien. Les visiteurs y vont car des gens ont vu d'autres gens en " haut", car nous ne savons pas trop où se diriger, même si ça semble simple hihihi Nous ne savons pas qu'est ce qui était "exploité" ou quelle partie du site que cela peut réellement correspondre. Nous étions déçu quelque peu, moi et les autres visiteurs avec qui nous avons échangés. On tentait tous de trouver l'information, mais nous sommes partis avec des " peut être que c'était ci ou ça. Je crois qu'apporter des éléments informatifs à l'extérieur rendrait l'expérience beaucoup plus intéressante et instructive. Les étoiles manquantes sont en lien avec ceci.

Somme toute, j'ai apprécié ma visite. Chapeau au personnels de l'accueil, ils étaient passionnés...
