I have been multiple times to buy cheese (their fontina is especially excellent for omelettes) and for the views and once for a guided tour. The tour was well worth it and is offered three times a day. I couldn't find information anywhere on whether the tour was offered in English so we just showed up. Thankfully they do offer both English and French. I also received an email from them explaining more for anyone who has the same question:
"Know that we do our best to offer French and English tours at each of the scheduled times. However, availability of English guided tours will always depend on which guides from our team are available on any given day as not all guides are able to offer the tour in both languages. We schedule bilingual guides from our team each day that tours are offered but it could happen that on any given day no English guides be present whether for reasons of sickness or other unforeseen changes to the schedule."

Read moreWe were passing through the Lake Memphramagog area and decided to take a side trip to visit the Abbey. It is nestled in the woods about 20 minutes south of Magog on the west side of the lake.
There is a large Church to visit (which is nice but not spectacular designed in a late 20th century style) and surround business operations that make cheese, apple products and cider. There is a self guided audio tour ($9 for tour) which takes about 20-30 minutes. Best of a all is the underground shop that offers a number of products produced by the Abbey from cheeses, to ciders, to apple sauce, and the like.
On the grounds is a very small chapel build by hand by the monks in the 1940's as well as hiking and picnic grounds. Overall it was a nice place to visit and spend some quiet time on a nice day...please the shop was a bonus. Enjoy!
NOTE: There is a Gregorian Chant concert which we did not attend but did occur while we were visiting. It appeared popular...check the website...
