Be aware Google maps MAY lead you to the wrong entrance. It originally led us to an atv path and not the actual entrance. We met another set of campers at this entrance who were also misled
Most staff do not speak English. I find this disappointing as a "National" park should (in my opinion) have bilingual staff to welcome both English & French speaking visitors. This is the main reason why we only gave 3 stars. The park is BEAUTIFUL but due to language barriers we couldn't participate or enjoy any of the programming
The new Curiosity Trail for kids is a 750m natural play space with a zipline, wall-climbing, rope-course & more! (Pictures) Every national & provincial park should develop similar play and learning spaces for kids.
There are NO laundry services on site. You must exit the park & visit a private campsite in Squatec to do laundry.
There is a beautiful long beach with a very wide and shallow shore for kids to play safely in! The water is cool along the shore but warms up quick!
Many long & beautiful hiking trails.
DISCLAIMER: As a Haudenosaunee I find it difficult to endorse any of the national parks. They are indeed beautiful to look at. But the white-washing & erasure of Indigenous peoples is quite honestly disgusting.
Here at Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac there are several references to "Grey Owl" and his environmental work... Using the name "Grey Owl" to reference this WHITE man leads visitors to believe he is Indigenous, which he is not. He was a fraud who used First Nations culture to further his career. Continuing to reference him as "Grey Owl" and not by his actual name Archibald is a deliberate act to fool visitors into thinking Indigenous peoples/voices are included at...
Read moreWe really enjoyed staying here. The campsite we were at was Anse-a-William 19. It was slightly far from the comfort station/dishwashing sink but it was close to the trail to get to the beach by the lake. The campsite itself was generally private. We only had time to do the hike Montagne-Forneau trail while we were there. It was really nice and the view was great from the lookout. We went swimming at the Lac Temiscouata. Water was a bit cold, the ground was a bit rocky. We went around 5 pm and the sun was starting to drop and we saw bald eagles flying really high above along with seagulls. They have pay showers in the comfort station, which is mainly why we went swimming the lake. They had some nice touches like putting a towel to wipe up at the dishwashing station and also stools for kids to stand on in the washrooms. The facilities overall were pretty new and clean since the park opened only a few years ago. We would definitely come back if we could and would stay for longer...
Read moreAll in all the parc was O.K. The facilities are clean and the Camping site tidy. But an impossible high grill (~half a meter above ground) in combination with a strong side wind made cooking over the fire simply tiring and frustrating. But a real no-go was the showers, of course while Camping, you should be aware that showering costs extra and sudden stops ( when will they finally build a clock on These things?). So making these compromises and waiting for the cleaner to clean the shower. I had a decent shower. But after the pain started. From feet to knees, my body started to itch, i did my best in no scratching and washing it with bottled water. 3 hours later the itching slowly begann to fade. After die hours it was gone. I suspect an acid cleaning liquid which wasnt washed off properly. So my personal, subjective experience wasnt to impressive, that why i have only two stars. One more than one, because with other conditions i could have spent a decent time at...
