Overall it was a very nice place to visit and stay for one night. The location was nice along the river and near the dam. Our first time in an oTentik and we had site 6. Privacy was generally pretty good however it was right by the walking path but because there weren't too many people and the site beside us was empty, it was fine. The view was directly facing the dam and river so it was really nice. However if I could choose again, I would probably do site 5. It also pretty private facing the river, not as much the dam but then right beside it is more green space for kids to run around and it's slightly closer to the communal sink/dishwashing area and comfort station. What I didn't like was the BBQ being on the deck, as it took up a lot of sitting space and also it was kind of awkward walking up and down to bring the food to the picnic. But I suppose if you are eating inside the oTentik then it would be fine. The island itself is small and can be strolled around in 15-20 minutes. There is very a small wooded area with gravelly paths. The other thing I didn't like was that it wasn't a drive-on site so the car was on the other side of the water and if I forgot something in the car I would have to walk all the way back (about 5 mins). They do have cart/wagon things to bring your stuff around from the car though...
Read moreThis campground is very small, with only 5–6 ready-to-camp sites. There aren’t many activities available (such as trekking), though I will say the on-site facilities were authentic and well maintained.
However, there was hardly any privacy. Unfortunately, we had extremely unpleasant neighbours who were rude and impolite, asking us twice to lower the music even though it was very low — we could barely hear it ourselves. The staff had only informed us that noise restrictions start at 11 PM, not that we couldn’t play music at all.
Overall, if you’re looking for a private and relaxed camping experience, this is not the place. The sites are cramped, and interactions with other campers can spoil...
Read moreÉcluse de Saint-Ours is a nice little spot for a short day trip, but don’t expect too much around the area. The historic site itself is interesting, and the hut we stayed in was very comfortable with good facilities. However, the campsites felt less maintained—washrooms were limited, and during our visit the men’s washroom was flooded, so we had to use the women’s one. Around the camping area, cleanliness could definitely be improved. That said, the staff were very friendly and helpful, which made the experience better. Overall, worth a quick visit, but not ideal if you’re looking for a well-maintained...
