We were at the Major Beach on Monday. There weren't too many people in the morning. However, in the afternoon the beach became more crowded. We found a beach itself a bit narrow. However, there was enough space for everyone, and people weren't disturbing each other. The entrance fee was 47$ for 2 adults and 7yo kid (I guess the parking was included, as we didn't pay separately for it). It may be a bit pricy. Yey, it's a lake, and it doesn't have that particular river smell when you go to the river beach. The water felt cold at first. However, the longer you stayed in it, the warmer and more pleasant it became. We really enjoyed swimming in that lake! The beach is sandy (yellow sand), and yes, you can notice some birds' droppings. We didn't see any, though, where we were sitting. Just noticed some while walking along the beach. The lake is shallow, but at the very end of the swimming zone, it reaches 1.65m, which is enough for an adult to swim along the buoys. The water is clear. You can see the bottom almost till the end of the swimming zone. There are 4 lifeguards along the beach. The bbq zone and the picnic area are aside from the beach. The rental of different water equipment is available on the spot. People also bring their own water games to play in the water. In short: it's a nice spot; not far from Montreal; you'll decide for yourself once you're there. We...
Read moreMajor Beach is one of our favorites, not far from the city of Montreal. We came here last June 30, 2022 and it was perfect! Only few families around. We are family of 4 (kids: 5&7), paid 32$ for entrance and parking is free. You're not allowed to BBQ in the area, so bring your own food. But there was 1 cute food truck in the area and the owner was nice & courteous.
It's a perfect beach (lake) for kids: fine sands, calm water and quite/relaxing (weekdays). You can bring your own beach umbrella/tent, your also allowed to use floaties. There were 2 lifeguard stations when we came. Not a long walk from parking to the beach. Picnic tables were around the trees. They also have a playground in the area. Changing room is open but need a little bit of renovation. There's a rental boats on the side of the lake too.
Highly...
Read moreBeautiful place, some weird rules. 1. At the only kiosk selling food and drinks on the beach you are not allowed to touch the cans that are on display. I just turn one to see where are bottled and the young lady at the counter jump saying that I don't have the right to touch it. Of course that I asked way. She show me her back for a good minute or two not saying anything and not serving me hopping that I will leave, but I didn't. Weird. 2. You cannot go back to your car and re-enter unless you keep the little piece of print that they are giving you at entrance. What if I am losing it or enter with it in the lake and now it's destroyed? Other methods could be implemented, maybe a stamp on hand... The good parts, water and...
