This park is beautiful, but a few notes if you're going to a cabin in the south sector. The roads are not maintained at all (as seems to be the case overall in Quebec), so there were spots where we almost damaged our car getting to the cabin, and this is while going 10 km/h and weaving right and left and centre to avoid all of the dips in the road and the huge rocks that could mess up your suspension. Yes, I expected a gravel road. No, I did not expect one that people just hadn't bothered to maintain. If you don't want to damage your car, don't go or bring a jeep or something through here that may fare better. Oh also they gave the wrong pin # to our cabin in our email where we purchased the cabin, which thankfully enough they had put the number on the inside of where you access the pin pad anyway. I've actually been more impressed by them in the other sector where we just did canoe camping. Oh and if you're expecting a clean cabin, it will be mostly clean but the floors have stains all throughout. I'm guessing someone tracked mud in at some point and didn't clean it up and then sépaq didn't either so now it is part...
Read moreA great, grand park for camping, hiking, biking, or just a simple stroll in the wilderness. It could be much more even with simply a little more organization and guidance. The first trail we wanted to do required us to drive about 5 KM, which was fine, but then when we got there, to the starting point, we realized it was impraticable by foot because it was flooded. The information desk gave us no such info. Then, the next trail we settled on was not as indicted on the map, a loop, and therefore had to backtrack and redo the trail backwards instead of coming around, which was somewhat disappointing. For a national park which charged us almost 20$ for our daily visit, it should have provided us...
Read moreBeautifully forest and lake campsite, lots of trails on the St-Daniel sector and easy access to the lake to use our kayak by a short portage. Small sandy beach, pédalos and kayak rentals, all within walking distance from the campsites. But not enough small loop hikes for us and not as much interesting belvedere or spot to visit before turning back (we prefer loops over back-forth trails). We could hear loons, great black lake better suited to kayaking than swimming since you could not see well in water. Perfect for nature lovers. Very few activities around...
