My family and I stumbled upon this place by chance.... and then we saw a sign outside the entrance that said "Open By Chance"! So we decided to have a quick look, but it ended up being a (very enjoyable) good hour or so. A volunteer gentleman by the name of Gordan showed us around and answered our questions. He was the most excellent volunteer/help/guide/host that one could ask for. He treated us as if we were VIP visitors who had a reservation instead of confused tourists who stumbled upon the place by accident. There was no pressure to donate, but of course we were happy to do so. (There is no admission fee per se.)
There are some very interesting vintage buildings and old antiques to look at. My favourite was probably the old preserved barbershop. I would encourage anyone who is sitting on old family antiques to consider donating them to this museum, because it does a very good job of preserving and sharing these items with the general public. Apparentlythis site has a good support base locally, but like all small museums could use assistance with building maintenance, artifact display and storage and expanded education facilities.
I was particularly pleased to see a small cooperage dislay, as that is my trade.
This site appears to be a good place to be a volunteer, either as a student or senior.
I would have given this site five stars, except for the display on the top floor of the main building. The museum is rather tight for space and the horror show that is displayed there should be relegated to storage and study while that space could be opened and used for...
