So glad I'm a curious person and stumbled across this gem. We have been long-searching for a beach/playground to take my toddler when we are up north (& when the river is too high). This park has it all. Skate/bike park, baseball field, fenced-in off leash dog space, playground, bathroom facilities, a sandy beach, lawn chairs, picnic area, and on the other side of the fence there is even a free boat launch. The few times we went, there were few people, so it wasn't crowded (like other spots) and mostly stress-free. One spot of caution however. On the left side of the beach (towards the fence/lawn chairs) there are some large boulders on the shore that are VERY slippery, and the water in that spot is a bit deeper than expected. We watched 2 kids find themselves in a predicament when they slid off the rocks and struggled to touch bottom (a very terrifying moment for all the families involved) .😓 So if you have little kids, PLEASE put water wings or puddle-jumpers on them, or stay near them. Otherwise this was a very safe beach, and our new favourite spot.❤️

Nice little park with a small beach and fishing area. There is a shelter area with around 8 to 10 tables that can be used for picnics. It is unclear whether charcoal bbqs are allowed but a local group told us that it was ok to use as long as we dispose of the coal and other waste properly. There are a few swings and slides etc for little kids. Highly recommended.

Beautiful spot at the top of Lake Couchiching. Washago means “sparkling waters” and you can see that here. Visited today (February) and saw the Trumpeter Swans visiting! Easy to even just park and look out on a windy day. Nice playground on site for kids as well. Beautiful fenced in dog park as well!

Beautiful park to picnic at or just see nature. It looks like it once was used for camping as there are camp posts along the waters edge. There is a small play ground and a beach. On the far side of the park is a skateboard or bike area with hills and ramps. There is one big hiking trail around the whole place. It is also a main waterway so you will see boats launching or just passing by. There is an observation spot to see the eagles nest (This is...

Be very careful swimming in the water- especially if it’s rained recently. We went with a group of kids and adults and everyone who went in the water got terrible swimmer’s itch. We think it’s from some kind of bacteria. Our kids were screaming in pain, clawing at their legs. It was quite horrible. I’ve now heard from others who had a similar experience. Playground is great but would not swim here again unless the water has been...
