My mom and I had an absolutely fantastic visit to the Thunder Bay Amethyst Mine Panorama! From start to finish, it was an incredible experience that exceeded our expectations in every way. The tour was exceptionally informative. Our guide was not only passionate about amethyst but also incredibly knowledgeable. She shared fascinating insights into the geological history of the area and the process of amethyst formation, making our visit both educational and enjoyable. Digging for amethyst was an absolute blast! We uncovered some beautiful crystals, and the experience of finding our own gems was a highlight of our trip. The staff provided all the necessary tools and were there to assist us every step of the way. Speaking of the staff, they were not just helpful; they were downright incredible. Friendly, patient, and always ready to answer our questions, they made us feel welcome and ensured that our visit was memorable. One piece of advice for future visitors: definitely bring a knee pad to kneel or sit on while digging. It makes the experience much more comfortable, especially for those of us not used to hours of gem hunting. In summary, our visit to the Thunder Bay Amethyst Mine Panorama was a 5-star experience in every sense. We left with not only beautiful amethyst but also wonderful memories of a day spent in a stunning location with friendly people who truly love what they do. This place is a must-visit for anyone coming to Thunder Bay!

Our visit to the Amethyst Mine Panorama was nothing short of extraordinary! Despite the foggy weather, we had an absolutely fantastic time "mining" for amethyst, and the entire experience was made even more special by the owners' warm hospitality and the wealth of fascinating stories we got to hear. While the fog may have obscured some of the usual scenic vistas, it added an element of intrigue to our journey, making the day even more memorable. Now, let's talk about the owners. They were nothing short of amazing. Their passion for amethyst and their dedication to providing an exceptional experience for visitors was evident from the moment we arrived. They not only guided us through the "mining" process but also shared captivating stories about the history of the mine, the formation of amethyst, and the local area. Their knowledge and enthusiasm were infectious, and we left with a newfound appreciation for this beautiful gemstone. What truly stood out was the abundance of stories we heard during our visit. The owners had a treasure trove of anecdotes and insights that added depth to our experience. Learning about the mine's history, the geological processes that create amethyst, and the local legends associated with it made our visit all the more enriching. A heartfelt thank you to the owners for sharing their passion and knowledge, making our visit an unforgettable journey into the world of amethyst

I am a huge rock hound, collecting any rock that catches my eye! I had been wanting to go to Thunder Bay to look for Amethyst forever, this July I took my chance and went road trip! I chose two different Amethyst mines to go to, Amethyst Mine Panorama was one of them! This is such a beautiful property and it is laid out very well! The drive in was fun, although to some I’m sure could be slightly intimidating, keep going you’ll make it there! You first park in the designated parking area and then make your way to the building. Inside there are amazing staff who will explain the options and pricing to you. For me it was $10.00 to get in and look at the Amethyst and I believe $5 per pound for what you wanted to take home. I spent roughly $30 and got a good assortment! They also have an option for a tour which sadly I didn’t have the time to do. They were very dog friendly which was a big plus as I was traveling with my dog for the first time ever! Overall my dog and I both had an amazing time even if we got rained on a bit! The view around the property is amazing and I also spent time talking with some fellow rock collectors who’ve was nice to hear how far some had travelled. Highly recommend stopping here when in Thunder Bay.

My wife and I stopped at this mine today. We walked into a nice gift shop and were greeted by very friendly staff. We had just paid our admission when an older gentleman (we later learned that this was the owner) asked me what I did for a living. I work with computers, and this excited the man a lot. He told me that he "wanted to give me a job" and then handed me the debit machine, which he was having trouble setting up. I helped for about 15 minutes, doing basically what I might do at work. During this time the owner was nice (if somewhat demanding) to my wife and I, but we both noticed that he was rude and curt with the two staff present. Afterwards, one of the staff went to ask the owner if they could refund us our admission as payment for the help, and we saw the owner take her aside and get overly upset at her for the suggestion. We had been planning on buying some souvenirs, but couldn't bring ourselves to do so after such a display - if this is how the owner treats the staff when there are customers watching, we can't imagine what must happen behind the scenes. He wasn't that great to us either, getting me to essentially work for 15 minutes without compensation, but by far it was the rudeness and clearly awful work environment that he created that spoiled our time...
