I just have to be honest, we didn’t really enjoy our stay here. However , we did come from camping on the west coast where things are a lot different. The water here is shallow and I don’t know if that’s why there is just so much algae ? It floats by and doesn’t look all that appealing to cool off in. Not only that but my son had a few leeches stuck to him which wasn’t a pleasant experience. There are TONS of bugs here black flies sand flies deer flies and mosquitoes which made it almost impossible to just sit down and relax at any point even with an armor of bug spray candles etc. Camping all across Canada we didn’t have this issue. Our tent in the morning looked like ants, spiders and flies took the home up as their own. Covered !! The scenery is beautiful and the camp employee is AMAZING. He went above and beyond. It didn’t help that a lady next door to us let her dogs bark through the day uncontrollably.
The park experience we had is at no fault really of the park staff or campgrounds. We just prefer the lakes that look more clear and maybe a time with less bugs... I doubt there...
Read moreBeen to about 6 other Ontario parks in the last 2 weeks and enjoyed the others more. Water at the beach wasn’t clear. The campsites vary a lot in terms of quality, most have little to no privacy. We are in a 23ft motorhome and on a non electric site and there were many we would not fit into or were not level. Many sites are away from the lake or are on a big cliff teasing you with a lake view. A site near us had their dog left unattended most of the day and it barked constantly (we did complain to staff but didn’t see anybody come by) and others left generators running for hours (well past 11pm). Bring bug repellent. Mosquitos are really bad as well as deer flies and horse flies. Also nowhere to bring your dog as they’re not allowed on...
Read moreWe love Caliper Lake park! A great family campground that we have been going to for many generations. There are many electrical and non electrical camp sites to choose from. 2 boat launch docks, a beach with a floating dock, and for a cheap price, you can rent paddle boards, canoes, and kayaks. There are 2 hiking trails right off the main road that are challenging, yet easy enough for the kids to do. The park is located on the south side of Nestor Falls, ON, and only a short drive from a grocery store if you run out...
