Absolutely not worth the stop. Although, this place has a lot of potential. The three teenagers who sat at the entrance just stared at us. I had to literally drag out information, in order to get something in return for my 10 CAD Turns out the tipi's are purchased ones and only put there to attract tourists. Two of the three pit houses are plain dangerous to enter since they're in total decay. The third pit house is actually a very nice one, but without information or explanation, it remains a home in the ground... A real shame, because the spot has real potential.
On the other side, I can understand. Keeping open and tidy such place and provide animation with only 2 or 4 visitors per day is a real challenge.
My advise? Throw in some smart advertising, organize activities for the kids and... please... Instead of sitting there staring at your iPhones, welcome the guests, and at least say hi and pretend you're proud of your ancestry... Repair some of the installations. It's only wood and rope... The current ones are rotten...
Read moreThis is a very nice place. I got to be here a few times during the summer and also during Autumn/Fall. Me and my sons went down by the river and taken a lot of pix. Its so beautiful. And they have an underground home as well, and some other native themed things there. There is a huge fire pit and lots of firewood around the tipi area, and the community area there is a lot of picnic tables, and at the top of the hill driving on the way down to this area, there is a lookout point, that has a beautiful view of the area, to also look down on the Heritage Village...
Read moreI attempted to bring my children and grandchildren here, I ordered KFC from Williams Lake and was so excited to finally get the chance to view this beautiful historic site! We drove down the windy dirt road and we were about to get out to enjoy a picnic with my family...a family was parked at the entrance. I thought it was strange, thinking they were another family enjoying the picnic area. A 9 year old first nation boy ran towards us asking for money. I thought he was joking, but I seen his family staring over at us. I told him I'm a First Nations also, why must we pay? he said $5.00 per person or $20.00 per car. We were told we could eat up at the lookout point if we aren't going to...
